accord 5th gear

i plan on getting a h22 but i want the highway mileage my f22 gives(or better)
wat i want to know is if the accord 5th gear can fit into the prelude tranny or if the prelude 1st-4th can fit can fit into the accord tranny?

I believe they're not interchangable

The gear ratios are eerily similar and wont make a difference. Its the final drive that does that.

Your other option is to custom cut a gear with teeth and fit it where the original 5th gear went. Gearspeed can do that for you most likely since they specialize in honda trans.

i read somewhere that h23 5th gear fit in the h22. i have to find it. that the gear is the same size i believe. let me see if i can find it.

Why would you want an h23 5th gear. He wants to make the 5th gear more broad not closer.

i thought h23 gear was longer than h22 gear. he is looking for a highway gear, i thought h23 5th is a better highway gear than h22. maybe i am wrong.

No H23 gear is closer than most jdm h22a 5th gears. Same goes for the USDM H22A trans.

H23 still has the same final drive as an h22a. Its slightly broader through 1-4 but not by much. 5th is closer than most jdm transmissions such as the m2a4 and m2b4. How do I know? I have one and I know wafflefries has an m2a4. Damn mofo cruises at a lower rpm at 80 than me.

The mainshafts of h series trannys are different diameters than the f series the gears wont interchange. and only the countershafts are the same size on h23 and h22 so those arent really interchangable either.

i have been drivin a prelude for the past couple days and the 5th gear(4000rpm at 80mph) ratio makes me think twice about swappin in a h series with rising gas prices
the f series tranny gives good acceleration when bolted to a h22 tho right
