My H22 swap took 9 months. Family and full-time job meant most of the time was spent on the weekends if I had that much time free. I bought my CB7 in February of 07 and bought the engine about a week or two later. I had never worked on a CB so even with a manual everything was new to me and took waaaaay more time than should have. I ran into problems along the way, but I know my engine compartment inside and out now.

    Cost:
    $1050 Engine/Trans/ECU
$60 Enterprise truck rental to pick up engine
    $500 various tools/parts

Excellent tthread, this may be a sticky 1 day, and to the oe poster I love ur sig.

I don't have a H motor. But I can speak on F series swap, to me I got ripped off big time and it was around x mas time. I bought a F22B dohc motor for 750 shipped from Nj. I called this guy in my local city he said he'll do it for 500 even. I said ok, took it to him, he put my dohc bitch in, looked sweet. He started it up and the cam was siezed, motor wasn't spinnin over, check this out, he charged me 500 to put it in, he charged me another 500 to my f20a sohc in, why??? Cuz he had to take out the f22b, I had to send it back , get my money back, find another dealer for a motor cuz the oe dealer of my f22b didn't have anymore dohc's in stock. I asked him b4 I bought my motor how many do u have there, he said 6. Btw the f22b was dirty, loked like it came from a jy to b honest.

I will never pay some1 to drop another motor in my cb7, never. I know to much thanks to this site to have some 1 do anything for me, it comes down to the owner if you wanna do it urself and have space, and tools.

I had to pay to get my swap done. I would say it took him about 3 days & that's including installing a set of coilovers, front sway bar bushings.

          Price list:
          F22B DOHC $960 (motor, a/t, ecu, shipping)
          Labor $400
          Nex coilovers $350
          Labor $150
          Front bushings $15 ?
          Honda a/t fluid $10
          Antifreeze $8 ?
          Oil & filter I forgot

I believe that's everything. I'm still learning about our CB7's and have done small jobs on it myself (axles, exhaust, install integra radiator). Personally i wish i was there when the job was getting done, but b/c of work i couldn't.

haha I understand that about the DOCH VTEC. I've gotten to drive mine once since they put the engine in, but then the balance shaft belt snapped. I was still happy even though the car was messed up cause I got to hit VTEC for the first time lol.

Yeah and I just found out that my balance shaft bearings are in my oil pan :/

                            So who knows now.

Maybe it didnt do anything catastrophic.

It took some time when finding out what I DIDN'T have. But it's worth it doing the work yourself. I had a transmission shop repair the tranny and shifter linkage because I don't know transmissions that good and I needed my transmission fixed "right" the first time. The linkages I could have done my self but I was tired of foolin around with it, and I've done it before so it's not that I can't it's just that I didn't want to.

All in all well worth it to do a good job yourself. Even if the project ends up being 4010. It would have been lots cheaper if I didn't have that bad tranny shipped with the motor.
