When I bought my 90 Accord, it needed a head gasket, but rather than to replace that, I bought a different motor. I paid 200 for the car, 350 for the motor, when I brought it home, I parked it and my brothers g/f's mom backed into it, her insurance company paid me 650 and change for the damage. So, I got the car, the motor and my headlights for free... so all in all, I'm into my swap for probably 100 bucks... the labor was free, it took longer than it should of, but thats because I live in a hick town and they didnt have ANYTHING I needed, so everything had to be ordered... but its up and running

It took one week and $2550 to a local shop for my H23 5SPD Swap. I'm somewhat good at working on cars but I didn't wanna screw things up and have to shell out more cash to fix something else. Plus it was on spring break, so it had to be done in time for me to drive to school. Plus I got 1 yr parts warranty. Can't beat that.'94 JDM H22A: 178whp 146wtq

I have always heard hmotors was a great place to order from becuase they are reputible, but they are mighty expensive compared to what everyone is saying in this thread.
but that was like a year ago, and the engine was extremely clean!

if u have the right tools and enough knowledge and hands u can get it done in a day or 2.
I swapped a f22b head in a matter of hours. A complete motor a day. But that was not my first second or third. Also pends on how much stuff u still got in. Such as a/c p/s and if the bolts have ever been broken. Breaking bolts can take some time. Especially if u have to swap axles and try and break the axle nuts. Air tools help but i do all mine by hand~Nick~

i bought my H on here for 550 from accordtunerx/cpmikes current car.(my motor is in all the old videos!)lol it had some bent exhaust valves... i took 2 years to do it lol..... i actually ripped my motor out in like may 2006 and finally put the H in after lots of prep(wiretuck etc.) in july 2007.....
this totally would have taken like a weekend had i not been so picky and hadnt gone away to school and left the car for nine of the months mentioned.....
THEN..... lol i pulled the motor back out and redid the whole bay(partial shave/5 speed conversion/added some shit lol) in the course of like 3 weeks.
actual time swapping motors....(and i have people who can vouche) i literally pulled 2
H22's out of two seperate cars in under an hour..... and carefully, carefully put the H back in with its new m2f4(USDM H22A1 manual trans) in my car in about 35 minutes with the help of one person.
the 3 weeks include ONE HELL of a lot of cleaning/replacing/painting. of just about every part that is left in my engine bay....
i say anyone who has the interest spare time and a bit of tools/knowhow could tackle this no problem..... its a cool feeling knowing u put ur car together instead of some idiot in a shop... it also gives u confidence that if something should fail u could easily fix/replace it.
