Would this be adviseable? Rim width question

Alright, I have 15x5.5 inch alloys on 195/60/15 tires. However I am going to use other rims right now. These rims are 15x6.5 inches. The question is, can I still use the same tires??? Thanks
    Yeah, Preludes

Look it up on the tire manufacturers website, under specs, recommended and max rim width.

Look up the tires on tirerack.com. Should tell you there the rim widths that the tires would fit. Or like said above just use that tire manufactures website or information. Later

No sir you cannot and if you do, you run the risk of unseating your tire from the rim aka all air leaks out aka YOU ARE FUCKED. Ok. Im done.

i think the prelude wheels are 15x6.5 and alot of people run 195-60-15, so you should be good.

I always have people that have mixed responses when you extend the rim width with the same old tires. Can anyone elaborate?
                Yeah, Preludes

                  Elaborate on what?
That people refuse to believe that what the tire manufacturer suggests is probably a good idea?

Goodyear lists 195/60-15 approved rim width 5.5-7".
                  Michelin lists the same.
                  Dunlop lists the same.
                  BFG lists the same.

I mean its bad to go with a wider rim on the same tire. In my case, I had 195/60/15 tires mounted on a 5.5" rim. However, I got new rims that are 6.5" wide, but wanted to use the same tires because there are tons of tread on them. A person I was talking to told me that doing this would be a bad idea, since it was already on a 5.5" rim that it would not be correct on a 6.5" rim? Thats why I wanted to know what you guys thought? Thanks

I work at national tire and battery as a tire tech, and im telling you that is not safe to do! We had to make a policy not to stretch tires anymore because if it does fit you are risking a serious injury to you and the car. Stretching your tires is not advisable at all regardless of amount. What will happen over time is the sidewall will eat itself from the inside out, like if you had left a ton of fix a flat in it, and eventually your side wall will blow out. Just buy some wider tires and do not risk it. Tire rack sells tires for pretty cheap, just look around and you can find good deals. Just buy the advised tire for the rim.

This is my field i see this all the time. This company that I work for would not change policy unless it was hurting people, and thats because they lose money by creating this policy. Also while i explain this let me tell you how company police is made. If profit is > Costs of accidents then, we continue doing it. However, If profit is < Costs of Accidents then, We stop doing whatever that is. More Costs of Accidents=more accidents period. So now that you understand would you believe they have a reason behind it?

edit* If i can show you a picture of a side wall blowout from work i will post it for you. Im going to work now so ill bb at 8pm eastern time

                          Advised by whom?

All the guys that MAKE tires believe they're the right size, and list them in their tire specifications.

What specs are you going by?

If you want be safe get 205 size tire. I had an escort with 15x6.5s and the 195-60-15s i tried to put on streched just a little. so 65s would not work any better. Just go with 205-50 or 55s so you can be safe.

what im saying is some tire people tell me their company policy only allows old tires to be on the same spec rims...even if the rims are still 15 inch, if they do not have the same width, they cannot put it on even though the tires say that is allowed?
                              Yeah, Preludes
