Clear coating polished rims

So im going to be respraying my datsun wheels white but will be keeping the lip and inside polished. And i was wondering if clear coat will stick to the polished surface bc im wanting to repolish them also. Thoughts, comments, concerns?? Thanks!

You can clear them. But once dirt and whatever get underneath the clear. Your going to have to repeat the process again.

Id leave them polished, and use rain x to protect. I got this advise from a guy who has been pro polishing for 30+yrs.

Ive just finised up a set and gone with rain x.
