Need advice on a street tire for drag.

Ive been doing alot of reading and investigating. I will most likely be using a 15" wheel, but i may be able to get ahold of 2 14"s.

Im looking for something around a 195-205, with as close to a 22" height as possible.
I found that Direzza Star Spec Z1s come in a 195/50, but most reviews speak of their stiff sidewall.

Ive seen people saying the Kumho Xs have good grip but have a weaker sidewall then the other "extreme performance" tires.

Id love a 205/50/14 but seems the only tire in that size are drag radials.
Does anyone have any recommendations and/or personal experiences?

Is this your daily driver? If not, then some street-legal drag radials could be an option. I have no experience with any to share, though... but any of the well known brands would probably do better than street tires.

Continental has a fantastic reputation among performance enthusiasts.
I have no experience with this tire myself (nor have I checked sizes...) but the ContiSportContact 5P may do very well for what you need. It's a high performance tire that has a tread pattern that appears to be very well suited to a drag launch.

If you want to stay away from stiff sidewalls, avoid Nitto as well. They make great tires, but they have a reputation for stiff sidewalls in all their offerings. Again, no personal experience here... as the models I wanted never came in the size I needed!

The continental tire tou posted only comes as small as an 18.

Id be happy with a drag radial, but i am trying to accomplish this on street tires, remember?

Ah, true. And dammit, I knew not looking up the sizes would bite me in the ass!

H or F trans? You have to remember a smaller tire will make your gears shorter than they are now. Only piece of advice I can give you as far as what you are asking. lol.
