I need some suggestions for 16"/17" bronze wheels.

Since my beloved Falken Hanabis were smashed up and then stolen, I need to find something else! I definitely want bronze. I want the wheels to be bronze from the manufacturer (as in, I don't want to get a set of silver wheels and paint them.)

Sadly, bronze isn't as "in" as it was years ago! The choices are rather limited.

I want quality, preferably a name that carries some respect (so no cheapie knockoff brands.) I also intend on racing on a road course, so I need wheels that won't fall apart on me! However, I don't want to spend a crazy amount, as I tend to do damage to my wheels... I really don't want to smash up $2000 worth of rollers!

I'm CONSIDERING doing a 5 lug swap, so that increases my options. If I can find a wheel I love that's 5 lug only, I may do it just for that wheel.

So, suggestions please! I was in love with my 17" Falken Hanabis, so that should give a clue as to what look I'm going for.

    Wait?! Stolen wheels?!

My buddy had a set of Konig Next's on his white integra that looked really good.

I'm not sure I love the polished lip, but I do like the design. I have a set of Konigs that I just destroyed on on the Fit.. They held up for almost a year and a half! (for me, that's impressive...)

      I'm currently leaning towards the 5Zigen ZR+

I'm being picky at the moment... looking for wheels that are made in Japan or Germany only. Not too thrilled with the idea of Chinese wheels. Wheels from Taiwan may still be an option (that put some TenzoR options on the table... not thrilled with the brand name, but they have a great bronze selection.)

I'm not opposed to buying used, if I can find good ones.

Do you want a lip? If yes, how much?
What width do you want? "Normal" offset?

I prefer a solid bronze, without a polished lip. No lip necessary, really... though I'm not opposed.
38-42 offset is what I have in mind. I don't want to have to worry about spacers or problems with turning the wheels. In my mind, form should never compromise function.

7-7.5" width is what I expect. Most wheels in the diameters I'm looking for are one or the other, from what I've found.

have you looked at the enkei rpf1s they make them in bronze now, what about the Work Emotion CR-Kai they kind of have that style like the ones you posted above.

            whats your price range?

I hadn't thought of either of those! The Works might be a bit out of my price range (I'm thinking no more than $250 per wheel... though that MIGHT change depending on whether or not I fall in love with a specific wheel! )
I wonder if those Enkeis are made in Japan. I think their cheaper wheels might be made in Taiwan (and I'm still unsure if I want to trust Taiwanese wheels... I definitely don't want to trust Chinese wheels, even though they're probably fine.)

I'm trying to decide what I like... many spokes (I loved the multi-spoke bladed look of my Hanabis...), 5 thin spokes, 5 fat spokes, or something that resembles BBS style (like the one I posted above.) Another option, leaving the bronze idea in the dust, is to just find some good BBS wheels... because they're amazing. But, that's for another thread!

As a lover of bronze wheels as well, I think I'll make a few contributions.

The Enkei Evo5 looks fantastic to me, but its on the heavy side:
                $170/corner

I am forever in love with the Volk TE37, but they go for about $800/pop.

Finally, the SSR Competition at $450/corner, excellent for track work.

By the way, I have a compilation of hundreds of wheel weights, sortable by size, brand, and name, on an Excel spreadsheet. I can email it to you if you want.

Hey Deev I know you don't really want a polish lip but the Konig Next i had where pretty much all bronze except for about half an inch on the face of the lip that was polished, they looked pretty good on the cb and will not break the bank... Check the link

these wheels dont really have a lip at all. i believe they are pretty much discontined, but they have a few sets left when i ordered mine back in june. paid $694 shipped to my door.

Why the hell do I keep deciding on discontinued wheels?!?

I guess the search is back on. I wasn't planning on buying soon (especially since my car has yet to be started...)
