Thanks Lynx... Practice for new CB wheels on 3D design program.

I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to get some designs up, but couldn't quite figure out what program I wanted to use. Thanks to Lynx, he gave me the inspirational nudge I needed to get on the ball. So here are a few pictures of what's to come.

Also give me a week or two, some reading, and I'll be there. If you want to see a wheel or anything, let me know. I need the practice.

This is what I have after two days of playing around with this program.

Sweetness. How about a wheel like a the gsr blades, but make it a 4 spoke like the konig fourplays. Face the blades 2 the left.

If you need any help modeling just add me to MSN and I'll help you out. I can have you modeling full wheels in about an hour or 2, lol

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I'm pretty good at this kind of stuff, and figuring out how to use programs to their fullest potential.

I just got Autodesk Alias Automotive 2010. I am about to get Autodesk 3D Max 2010 tonight.

Yea. I have to use it in between studying for all my classes. My time with this program is limited for now because I have 3 tests this week. This program has so much to offer, it's going to take a minute to figure out all the ends and outs of it. Hey, imma a quick learner. I have to print out the book for it. The book seems like its at least a 1000+ pages or so.

There's a lot to figure out with this program.

You have to place cameras in the right places. You have to create canvas' and backgrounds. Learn how to merge curves, objects, shapes and lines. You have to add skins and hollow objects. There's tons of stuff to learn.

I have used Alias for 3 years now. I personally hate the program.

I learned 3D modeling using Rhinoceros 5 years ago. My school then teaches you Alias because it's more difficult and that's what all the Auto Designers use. Well I got tired of Alias because of its glitches and crashes...so now I'm back to Rhino which is super easy.

What do you think about Alias? I feel like it's a very finicky and fussy program. I would try to sweep two rails and it wouldn't work...I'd try the exact same thing again and it works, boggles my mind...

I used many design programs before, and I can honestly say, without me reading the book for this program, so far it has been some confusion. I can't figure out how to color on objects or add textures to objects. So far, without doing extensive reading, it is not one of my favorites. Maybe as I continue to play with it I'll figure new things out. I figured out a lot already and completed my first full rim, fender, and quarter panel. However, I can say that it is not the most user friendly, but it has much to offer once one figures out the entirety of its capabilities.

                      I'd sport some one spokes.

Looks like that shit takes a lot of skill man, props.

Thanks. Due to three serious tests this week, no time for designing, reading the book, or practicing on the program. Maybe this weekend though. One of my professor who is highly respected in the industry told me this is what the pros use in the design world, so... I'mma keep practicing.

Oh yeah, another thing, I have to get a mouse for my laptop (preferably a blue tooth one). I have a laptop built for this type of stuff, but no mouse yet.

Made some progress today. This program is nice once you figure everything out; who knows how long that will take (a lot of stuff inside of this program). I like it minus the glitches. I found out how to add materials and colors, but every time I do, the program crashes. This is what I have accomplished so far (quite proud to be honest, I'm on my way):

Color and materials added. I learning fast. Alias is cool.

This is it for tonight. More practice tomorrow. I will end with this here, and begin to perfect the bumpers and fenders in the am. I will stop with all of the updates as well.
