90 EX: Converting rear drums to disc

My 90 EX info is in my sig.

What parts do I need to convert rear drums to disc & at same time perform a 2.3CL "rotor-over-hub" conversion. I'd have to use the rears off the 2.3CL...right?

    thanks

You need the whole rear suspension minus struts from a 1992/93 EX. You also need the flexible brake lines as well as the whole parking brake cables from the donor EX. If you want to use the EX's rear sway bar you will also need the EX's rear crossmember.

You also need the proportioning valve from either a 1990-1993 Integra with 4-wheel disc brakes or from a 1991 CRX SI.

Upgrading to the 92/93 EX's brake master cylinder would also be a good idea since it makes torque faster because of the larger bore.

To do the rotor over hub you'll need the first gen CL's hubs (about $25 from the dealer). You'll have to have them pressed into your Accord bearings. You'll also need the rotors, calipers, and caliper brackets from a 4th gen prelude.

    Good Luck.

that's it?!?! man...we'll see how bad I want it then eh?

if you were to do something similar up front....would a proportioning valve be necessary as well?

The proportioning valve is only needed when you replace the drums that are originally on the car with discs.

makes sense about the proportioning valve....but to do the rotor over hub conversion, I thought getting a 2.3 CL hub & rotor, accord bearing, and accord calipers w/pads were only needed.

do you really need 4th gen prelude parts?

You may be able to use the Accord Wagon's caliper, not sure about the bracket I think the offset is different.

You can't reuse the Accord Sedan/Coupe caliper because the calipers footprint is to small.

Sure you could use the CL's rotor if you want. It's the same as the 4th gen Prelude.

Aight, I've been doing a lil hands-on and research of my own here. I have yet to compare my 90 EX and 91 SE rear end suspension setup. All this because my 90 EX has rear drums, no ABS and 91 SE has rear discs w/ABS.

Now in looking up the parts off www.hondaautomotiveparts.com I found out that the brake booster (power assembly) is different for the 90 EX & 91 SE, makes sense. I also know for a fact, that both brake master cylinders are different...91 SE is larger bore. Also, the 91 SE has a proportional valve for rear discs and yes, a 90-93 Integra for this part may work as well...but let's just stick with these two 4th gen Accords.

As a result, what I'd like to do is get a F22A6 rear disc brake system setup, consisting of: brake booster, brake master cyl, proportioning valve, parking brake cables, rear disc assembly & install SS lines all-around.

              1) Will these brake parts from F22A6 fit into a 90 EX (F22A4)?

              2) I read what BustedLX said in regards to the rear setup. But how could two 4th gen Accords be so different? I know my 90 EX has a rear sway bar & as far as I know I think rear ends are the same. I think the differences are in the knuckle, hub & rotor assembly. I will compare on my cars & take pics so we all can see the differences.

The proportioning valve from the 4-wheel disc brake accord won't work for your rear disc swap. Because of the ABS the proportioning valve is different.

The brake booster wont make any difference and once you see the pain in the ass it is to change, you'll leave yours.

All 4th gen parts are interchangable. So just get the rear disc setup and put it in.
