Maybe it's me, but why does an Accord need more braking power? If I stomp down on the pedal, or roll it to full braking, my tires lock and the ABS kicks in. What this says to me is that I already have more braking power than my tires can handle. Why would I want to increase braking power?
Yes, big brakes and slotted rotors are good for heat dissipation and reduced brake fade during racing, but I doubt many people run their cars that hot for long enough to really cause problems. I run 70-second autocorss courses on my stock brakes no problem.
I swear, eventually I'll run out of things to break.
I guess I was wrong... I broke it all. Died 10/29/06
i had the slotted rotors, ate through the pads like butter and yes they where ceramic pad i had on them. i have now regular brembo rotors with ceramic pads and i love them stops great and great ware on the ceramic pads ive had my secound brake job since the slotted rotors and so far ive gotin about almost 45k on the ceramic pads and they still have quite a bit more meet on it still probly go another 10k to 15k on them i do all high way driving .

I have Brembo slotted and drilled (aftermarket work on Brembo blanks.) Had them for 2 years and about 35,000 miles... no issues. Using Napa ceramic pads (cost like $75!... got them in a pinch). Haven't checked pad wear in a while.. still stops fine though.
No complaints, though I don't think I'll bother doing that again... not until I upgrade to something a little bigger, anyway!

I just noticed this thread since I bought cheapo rotors from napa last summer. When I hit the brakes now my car shakes like a son of a bitch. I hate it and those rotors are junk. I am debating on also which is the best way to go so I dont have to do my brakes for a long time. I really like the looks of having the cross drilled but then again it just calls more attention to the car than I really need or want so maybe just high quality brembo blanks with a decent pad like aem, or hawk. Sound good to anyone since I need this done in another week or so. Thanks.
No longer working on the cb. To much time and money has been put into it. Check my for sale thread where the whole car will be parted out.
any rotor will rust...they're made from steel. some have more corrsion protection than others.....sounds like your friend got cheap ones.
any rotor will warp and for many different reasons, like spraying cold water on then after you've driven the car to useing the wrong type of pad for your application. later.
It seems like everyone has different experiences with rotors and pads. I'll probably just get a set of performance blank rotors (Brembo). and some nice brake pads.
most people dont know it but performance brakes like cross drilled and or slotted will acually hurt ur performance on the streets. they are meant to be used for the track and up at high temps. thats why they are vented, to the let the heat out. brembo blanks are the way to go.
That maybe true but isnt that the point (getting rid of the high temp) personally I prefer cross drilled/slotted ( I have it on my CB7 ) and one thing though my car stops on a dime. Correct me if im wrong but doesnt the slotted rotors create more heat thus creating brake fade...
