Hi all-
1992 EX Coupe in remarkably clean shape with no rust(from California). I am having a number of mechanical things pop up at once regarding brakes, suspension and steering(adressed in anoth thread Suspenion/Steering Issues).
This is for Brakes only.
I bought this thing with 152K July 04. By December I was replacing pads in front as they were worn. Checked rear, and pad life was fine. All winter and spring I was having issues with warped front rotors and burning smell. My fronts were wicked HOT. I was riding on steelies and Snows then also.
In May- I found a set of Acura CL knuckles and proceeded to do the swap(myself). Bought new $20 pads and no-name rotors, and then checked rears. Hmm- they haven't seemed to move. Tore them down, as slider pins were frozen, and turned pistons back- which was extemely tough. I also noticed that my bleed screws(all 4) were plugged with some kinda junk. Freed up the rears, and though okay- good to go. I also replaced the pads in rear.
By September- my fronts were warped badly again. I turned em, and the guy said they were glazed pretty badly- although I can't remember if he said only one side was glazed. I double checked the front sliders and piston movement, and all seems fine.
Fast foreward to December- since early DEC- my fronts are badly warped again. I expected them to warp eventually since they were cut down, but not this $%^&*( fast.
What I want to do is replaced my front caliper brackets AND calipers, new pads AND rotors and go from there. Or do I really want to do that????
I also notice(I occasionally feel front and rears after getting home or work) that my fronts are real hot, but my backs are only luke-warm. I asked here in an earlier thread(when I did my swaps)- and folks said the rears don't really do much. Obviously I need new front pads and rotors now, but before I spend the bux on front caliper pads and brackets- should I replace the rears first???? There is some braking going on in rear, as the rotors back there do appear clean and slightly shiney.
The only thing that sucks about all this, is that its now January, and living in Mass- its damn cold. I know I gotta pull the rears to at least SEE how tough it is to turn back the pistons and check the sliders.
How do I get the parking brake lines off the calipers?
Oh- I am all Nissin calipers on all 4 wheels.
I have been doing brakes on my cars for over 25 years, and I have never seen something like this.
Help please with the suggestions?
Thanks,
Chris
