    Brake Job Q:

Im going to be doing my brakes sometime this week, but before I order, I was wondering when a brake job is performed, should both front and rear rotors/pads be replaced even though the rears are completely fine and still have life in them? the fronts suck. im gonna being going with a performance street pad and drilled rotor.

In terms of wear, consider the fronts and backs independently. So in other words your first instinct is correct: don't replace the rear pads if they aren't worn.

On the other hand, if your new fancy fronts will have increased stopping ability that might have the effect of making the rears less helpful unless similarly upgraded.

Some will say don't bother with the rears since they "do so little anyway" but when you think about you probably want to preserve that same front/rear proportion you have now.

    How's that for a non-answer?
