Considering some Brembo slotted & drilled front rotors.

Well I'm certain my rotors are warped and rusted to shit, when I try to stop from 70 I get the meanest vibrations.

So I was thinking of getting some brembos' that are drilled and slotted. Now I've been reading that drilled causes loss of heat which translates to loss of braking power. I can't understand this, why would they be called "performance" brake rotors if they'd have less potential stopping power? I've found the brembos' for 100$ shipped on eBay and my friend's father will help me put them in.

Anyhow, I wanted to use Axxis Ultimate or Metal Master or EBC Green brakes pads. Think that is a good choice?

Also, for added brake performance I plan to do a rear disc swap (courtesy of Patastinky) and utilize the 40/40 integra prop. valve (trying to find one).

Also how do I know what calipers I have, akebono or nissin?

Remember it is a 93 LX without abs (I think..)

you got your info wrong. drilled does cause loss of heat but it translates to LESS brake fade which translates to an INCREASE in braking power. personally i would stay away from drilled because they are more prone to cracking around the holes. this is because they are literally drilled into a blank brembo rotor. this affects the integrity of the metal thus making it a bit weak. race cars have rotors that are casted with the holes meaning the holes were never acutally drilled into the rotors. i would go with slotted!

as far as pads go, it's all based on preference. i have AEM pads, made by nissin. they are very good for the driving that i do (mountain roads). i've heard some certain pads actually eat the rotors ! just try any set of pads and see for yourself.

you will prolly benefit the most from your rear disc swap. the braking is more even especially with a 40/40 prop valve. converting to steel braided brake lines also aid in removing that slushiness that you feel when stepping on the brake pedal.

            good luck!

edit: i have a 92 LX and i have nissin front calipers. some might be different so just double check to make sure you have the right caliper.

Now I've been looking at my rotors through the spokes on my 02 SEs and I cant seem to find any markings except for something that looks like a /\/\ sign. I'm leaning toward akebono.

Thanks Timmy, btw my aim is Br0nx Finest, so hit me up I've got a few other questions to ask you about your brake setup!

that thread has pictures of the calipers. You actually have to take off the wheel to see the markings. good luck.

for the most part, I think the coupes have nissin calipers... which I dont like any more, since they are a much more crappy design. hence the reason Im swapping back to akebono.

I would skip out on the drilled and slotted, they are just for show unless its a big brake kit, or high quality stuff. Just get some nice ones from www.cobaltfriction.com, they are high quality and wont rust.

I utilized oem style braking for now, would like to save some money right now, so I can do other things and turns out these are good.

I used oem style rotors from strauss (40$) and Bendix ceramic (lifetime warrenty 35$) and paid 100$ for their installation. Not bad imo. Stops great, nice stainless steel looking rotors (not really, just look clean and silver).
