SSBC Super Twin Front Big Brake Kit for 90-97 Honda Accord
No but I will speak for SSBC. A friend in HS had a full SSBC front brake set up on his 65 Mustang with a 4 speed and 289ci small block. I helped him put it on and it was of great quality.
I seen it 2 years ago (6 years later) and looked up underneath it and it still has that brake set up on it. He still drives it about everyday too. He says it has never gave him any grief.
Honestly you can go 5 lug for less than that price and gain an inch of rotor as well as better calipers, and more options for wheels. You could even do Acura RL rotors, and 350z rotors with the 5 lug conversion for that price.
'93 LX Wagon (On the back burner)
'92 EX Wagon (Traded)
'93 EX Wagon (Current DD)
Let's see...I paid about 900 dollars for:
RL Calipers plus rebuild kit
All new BJs
5-lug swap
08 accord wheels
new used tires
New hubs and bearings plus installation
New rotors and pads
VS
1,050 for
Calipers
Rotors
Hardware
2 Braided lines
BTW the RL calipers are 4-pot and the rotors are 12.7" and you can order pads at any time at any auto parts store.
The negatives are that these stick out sofa king far that you may have to run spacers to clear your wheels.
It is kinda high. Personally I have a wagon brakes up front, which I paid less than $250 for. And it's all new and of top notch quality.
raf99, you could probably use some good stoppers on that beast. I would bet your recent "modifications" are your reasoning in wanting a better brake set up.

haha. you got that right! But i'm on the east coast of Canada, and finding RL calipers, hubs, and all the parts needed to do a 5 lug swap and larger calipers is impossible unless you buy it new from Honda.
Even just to do the RL caliper swap, with larger rotors can cost ya a lot. Sooo I was just exploring my options

Yeah, I have heard that from other Nova Scotia members.
The thing about this SSBC set is it's from Jon. He might be willing to make a CB7tuner member discount but I don't know that for sure. I know I have spent over a grand with him over the years and he always does me awesome. There are some good sellers on here but he's the best.
When I clicked on the link, Ebay assumed I was from Nova Scotia so I saw the shipping charges and duty charges. At C $1440.30 or US $1312.53 shipped is a bit ridiculous. I am sure there must be some store in Canada that sells Brembo 4 pots or even 6 pot brake setup for about the same price you will get the SSBC shipped from the US.
looks super expensive compared to a cheaper somewhat similar oem setup..but i mean youre paying for the cool factor too and slap her together in a night.
ya, i agree guys. i'm not going to buy this just wanted everyone's thoughts and its the first time I seen something like that on ebay and thought I'd share
Can someone refresh my memory, I thought the largest rotors compatible for our cars (front and rear) were the prelude 11.1" and.... available in 4 lug?
If ROH Prelude rotors; if not Wagon rotors, 93-95 Legend GS calipers and with 98-02 Accord brackets with ROH, or Legend brackets if not, then you have your 11.1" rotors and 2 pot calipers. As far as I know rear you are stuck with 10.2, but some browsing I found these which I wish I knew about when I had my CB. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Big-Brake-Kit...e60ee2&vxp=mtr

I don't know what the largest is but that's what I have, 11.1".
Right now i'm running EBC drilled/slotted rotors and EBC pads on all 4 corners. I think I want to save up over the winter and upgrade the rotors/calipers/brakes over the winter but sounds like its something I want to read up on. I'm assuming if I were to do the prelude 11.1" upgrade that the OEM prelude calipers are the dual pistons?
But if I were to do the 11.1" then i'd have to do the ROH DIY as these rotors were only ROH I think. AND... if i'm going to do the ROH then one may as well do 5 lug swap. which = different rims :P
And besides this setup the extreme setup would be 5 lug swap, TL rotors and calipers?
ps - I never plan on going back to a 15/16" rim.
So....... in reality I may as well just go all out. Which would be ? (correct me if I am wrong)
- ROH setup (needed in the front only as I have rear disc setup)
- 5 lug swap for front and rear (CRV hubs, etc.)
- 11.1" rotors or larger
- Calipers to match the rotors I get (prelude, TL, etc.)
- New wheels (5 lug)
