do i really have to pull the whole steering knuckel off just to replace my front rotors?? alldata says so but it just doesnt seem right so im seeing if its actually what i have to do or if i can just pull the axle nut off and be done with it..

heres a better way to do it
1. pop the whole knuckle off the car (caliper stays on car)
2. take the 4 bolts off in the back of the knuckle
3. take off the 4 bolts that hold the rotor on
4. knock out the hub
5. rotate rotor 1/4 turn
6. rotor will be taken off, hub and bearing are still intact
7. resemble in reverse order

I undo most of the knuckle, just to remove the axle, unbolt the 10mm star bolts on the knuckle/bearing, then use a hub puller and 5lb slide hammer to remove the assembly. There is also a FWD hub puller you can use. To use that, remove the axle, then the star bolts, re-insert the axle, then use the FWD hub puller. I then inspect bearings and use bearing packing grease if the bearing is new/in good shape and re-assemble.
