swapping entire brake system

hi recently a past mistake has come back to bite me hard. I put about a 1/2 cup of PS fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. i bled the brakes but i now know i did'nt do it well enough. needless to say the entire brake system needs to be changed. I was wondering what your input would be on doing this, it's on a 1996 integra ls. All I know so far is having to replace the BMS, brake lines and calipers. i've been looking on ebay and the OEM used parts are pretty cheap, was just wondering what I would have to do besides bleeding the new BMS before installing, then bleeding out the brakes after installing. I also will purchase a helm or chiltons before this. could I get any more information on doing this? any major points I need to do? all info is appreciated. also what else parts, if any, would i have to change? how would you rate this repair for a novice car enthusiast? im pretty tedious and precise with my work, I've heard this repair ain't too hard. the mechanic shop down the street quoted 2000.00 for the repair, and g/f'S cousin quoted 1200-1500, which is still too high for the money i make.

I would think all you would need to make sure of is that all the PS fluid is flushed out of the lines. So you may be able to save those parts if you just kept filling the master w/ fresh brake fluid and then opening the bleeders on the 4 corners and making sure all you see is fresh brake fluid coming out.

Yeah, just flush out the power steering fluid and it should be fine. At the very worst, you might have to rebuild your calipers, but that would cost under 100 for everything to do it yourself for all 4 brakes.

actually, the mistake with the PS had been done say, back in october >.< I did'nt properly drain all the PS out back then and it's in all of the system now, so all the rubber bushings and lines are destroyed, so is the BMS. i had a garage do a full diagnosis of it.

What is the BMS? You mean BMC? Brake master cylinder? Anyways, you could drain the system, get new rubber or stainless steel lines, rebuild the calipers, and replace the master cylinder and it should only cost you about 300-max in parts off the top of my head.

i've actually done ebay research and the price for new lines is about 100.00 and the bmc(sorry about the earlier typo :/ ) is about 25.00. so it should be cheaper than 200 i believe. what im asking though is can anyone provide me with info on doing this? i'd rather have some tips and info on switching the old parts with the new ones

ah ok well brought the car to a shop today, they just swapped the BMC out and bled the lines, I traded my BMC into checkers and got a rebuilt one for 60.00, gallon dot 3 brake fluid for 16.00 and 50.00 for labor. car's now braking fine, only problem is the pedals pretty spongy now. at least it's just the BMC and not the whole system, thank god.
