Yah, when it's what people need, about 99% of this site is unnecessary. Surely someone must make an upgrade kit, or someone could. Perhaps this could be Tasauto's next item for sale?

Bigger rear rotors?

It looks like what I feared though. A larger rear rotor is impossible without modifying the caliper, i.e. a relocation bracket. It seems there are no OEM solutions that make a larger rear rotor a bolt-on affair. Its too bad too because modifying brackets is what stops most people from running larger rotors.
Ronald, what did you do about mounting the Wilwood's in the front? I didn't see any details about that. Were you able to buy a bracket from them that worked, or did you have to use custom brackets in the front as well?
So far I haven't really been able to find bigger OEM rotors for our cars..But then again I also haven't been looking very hard..And like you said, even if we do find bigger OEM rear rotors, there's a matter of finding the right calipers for them, or how to properly fabricate a caliper relocation bracket to re-use the factory calipers..
As for my front brake setup, yes I had to have a set of custom bracket fabricated to mount the calipers on my BB6 knuckles..
Originally posted by Shadow1 View Postyeah. i figured i wouldnt be able to find nothing that didnt require modding the rear bracket. lol. oh well.
so even with the bracket that came WITH the kit, you still have to modify that to get the rotor to fit properly?
And is it just me or the whole Page 2 of this thread talks about hub over rotor conversion for rear brakes, swapping front hubs to the rear and running front rotors on the rear?? WHAT??

Think about it... our cars have like a 64/36 F/R weight balance... when u brake, MORE weight gets transferred to the front. I've seen vids of super small cars doing endos. In any case, better to spend $$$ on the fronts if you haven't already. I basically have a Prelude VTEC setup in front, with cheap shitty rotors + pads, and it's still a huge improvement over stock

unless your turning your car into an auto cross/track day/full race car.
your STOCK calipers, with a qualty pad and quality rotor, will be more than enough
you dont need anything more
When I upgraded to SiR-T calipers (VTEC Lude) with a set of Endless pads and 11.2" rotors from my stock 10.2" brakes, the difference was huge...I felt a lot more confident on the road...But after the H swap, I felt that at times the brakes just weren't doing a good enough job...That's pretty much why I decided to go with 323mm front rotors and 4-pot non-floating front calipers...Slowing down from 200+km/h to 60km/h on the highways have never been easier and faster...No funky vibrations, no funky noises..The car just stops...On hard runs, the brakes do not fade or whatsoever...It's a great feeling because with the older calipers I felt like I worked it way too hard at times, while with the new setup I don't have to worry because I'm barely pushing it to its limits!
But I'm still going to install the 323mm rear rotors once I have to replace my rear brake pads...I'll run stock rear calipers first and see how it is...I know for sure it will give me a better brake bias...How much better, we'll have to see....If that's not enough, then maybe I'll go through with my original plan and run the same 4-pot calipers on all four corners of my car and use a secondary caliper as e-brake...But thennn with that option, I'll have to ditch the OEM prop valve and run a different dual-adjustable prop valves, among other things....I might do it anyways just for the fun of it, but we'll see!!

just sharing this info. this application was done on a 3g prelude ( civic/teg bolt pattern ) this guy did a NSX front caliper and a rear caliper from a wierd car but hey it worked. he also had some non oem rotors drilled to the civic teg bolt pattern. this is just to show how far this guy went to get his desires. oh and they did have a member who put an ITR brake booster on the 3g lude with only having to bleed one line(not in this thread).

No need to upgrade rear calipers? Sure...But upgrading front calipers is an awesome investment nevertheless, even on your DD/street car..If anything, safety should be number 1 priority!!! Better brakes allow you to stop faster (duhh) just in case of emergency situations..I love it!

thanks ronald, hope some others think the same. i'm pushing to get my 13" rotors, twin piston PBR calipers on in the next week.
i run the larger vtec prelude front rotor on the back and love it.96 Accord SiR driveline installed. CF2 donar

right now, im gonna be getting the wagon rotor upgrade. 11.1" rotors with some Acura Vigor calipers. i compared the stock calipers on the CB7 next to the Vigor calipers and there is a big difference in them. ill post some pics of it later on.
upgrading to bigger brakes is ok. but if you plan on getting some drill/slotted rotors that are like 13" wide with some 6 piston calipers on your DD, it would be kinda of pointless. the brakes work off of heat and friction. TOO much heat will decrease brake performance. but not enough heat will do the same.
so if your not tracking your car on a regular basis, your just wasting money. thats the reason im getting the wagon rotors. its an OEM upgrade and my brakes need to be done anyway.

But on the highways, when I'm alone, I usually touch 90 MPH regularly... stock brakes would melt with repeated braking; my setup now is fade free.

But anyways, VTEC Lude calipers from stock calipers is still a major upgrade nonetheless..Matched with a good set of brake pads and you'll notice a huge improvement!!
And going back on topic, so far what ekoo did seems to be the "easiest" option as far as running bigger rear rotors...All you have to do is find a good local fabricator who can mod the relocation bracket that comes with the kit, and voila!

Look on vancouver accords .com Amazing rear big brake setup I saw on there. IMO with upgraded pads/rotors it will be more than enough for standard street tires. I can lock up my brakes on the freeway going 70 (not that this is such an awesome thing, lol) with 215 falken's. All I did was flush the brake fluid and replace it with high temp racing fluid and swap out the stock setup for AEM pads and drilled rotors.

Ronald I am running a super stock BB6 setup. The OEM "BBK". I meant not stock as in not the puny CB non wagon setup. I have the BBK setup just chilling at bruno2787's house; he has to re thread one of the adapter brackets. Once that's done I'm putting them up for sale to someone who will hopefully really enjoy + use them.
In any case, money spent on the front brakes is prob invaluable to ur safety and the car's overall performance. Like strong springs and shitty stock shocks, what good is a built H22 when you can't stop? I'd be afraid to unleash the dragon lol. A good car is about having the full package.

I actually do plan on upgrading to a set of Wilwood SL6 6-pot calipers if my current calipers ever need to be rebuild (which is probably never, as long as I maintain them well)

but yeah. ill look around here and see what good fabricator i can find in my area. one of the other managers at my job is in school for welding. ive seen some of his work and it looks pretty good.
but i may just stick with my current set up and upgrade the front rotors to the wagon's.

Stock rotors are like 10". Prelude ones are like 11". More importantly though the Prelude calipers are like 2x as big as the stock ones. Even w/stock pads and rotors I have yet to experience brake fade, and I def. use my brakes more intensely than the average Joe.

lmao. why do you call it "puny"? is the Prelude rotors and/or calipers bigger?
