Well, I drop my car on tokico blue and R1 coilover on the back, some stiff yellow coilover up front. The R1 have a sticker with 350P. Is that the spring rate. Well.... back to the subject. It doesn't hit on small bump, but if it's a bump like 2 inches high or a drop, then the rear control arm will hit my tire. The weired thing is that it only hit on the rear right side only. BTW I'm not sure how low I'm drop, but I have a 1 finger gap with the 17" on. Also I think that it's due to the low spring rate. I think I need some stiff spring like the skunk2 coilover because when I push the back down, it's very soft. And If you push hard enough the control will hit my tire. Let me know What's Up

hmmm....sounds more like your rims/tire sizes that are effecting it. what size rims width and offset is it? and what size tires do u have? maybe u should raise the coilovers so they dont hit too....91 4DR Accord LX White Auto

My tires are 215/40/17 yokohama parada. And I have Konig rated R 17x7. Before I have a 1 and 3/4 finger gap and it still hits, but not as much. I'm thinking it due to the soft spring rate on the rear spring. Anyway I heard that the front spring are stiffer. Is that correct. All I can think of is the coilover that is the cause. BTW I like the drop like it is now so I need to figure that out..Last edited by Tenji; 08-01-2004, 04:40 PM.

i don't understand how the rear control arm can hit the rim when it hits a bump. if the rim/tire are the wrong size, the rim and/or tire should hit the control arm even when it is NOT in motion.
this is because the control arm moves with the rim, whether its the upper or lower. i'm thinking that your rim/tire is hitting and maybe rubbing against your upper fender lip.
i had to trim my rear fender lips a bit in order to clear my 215/45/17 tires. i'm slammed at a 2.5" drop in the rear and it's fine. that's less than a finger gap, but no tuck until the car is moving.
i don't doubt your questioning your spring rate. another problem could be that you didn't cut the rear bumpstops, if you have any in the first place. so when the shock travel maxes out, it hits the bumpstop. this could be due to the lower spring rate.
i hope this helped a bit mang! good luck!

hmmm. now that u mention that it might be the fender wall. I think so too. Stupid me for not realizing that If the control arm hits the tire... I probaly can't hear it. But then I can heard it hitting from my rear trunk. So I guess it's the fender wall. That the only thing that can make a thump sound. I'll take a look sometime today. Also I'm not sure about the bumpstop u talkin about. Can u give me more info about it. like will it help or so???

ok its not your control arm ive had the problem before becuase i was about as low as you and i had almost the same springrate. well the coilovers come with the urethane bumpstops that sit on top of the springs and after it it smacks it a few times it will push the bump stop up into the whole on the top hat. it ended up cracking that shit and it would make a loud clanking sound when i would hit a big bump.cb7 sold

well what i did was i took the stock bump stop and cut a peace off of it so it filled in the whole just to stop it from pussing up. you to take the whole shock asembile apart and the the bump stop peace in the hat and it stoped doing it. it has worked for me and i havent had a problem with it sincecb7 sold
