    True coilovers

i am in the market for a set of true coilovers because of the fact that alignment shops don't wanna bother with my ride anymore. I have researched and found good comments on the following. Omni powers, Tein SS, Nex GT's and Ksports. All have their pros and cons. Tein are pretty much out though. Most expensive and too soft of a spring rate for performance. I have one member one on here in which each owns one of the other that i mentioned already. Thanks again to those of you that replied. I am trying to get my ride up and running within the next month so I can get my registration and inspection done before year's end. Then I can do my 5 spd swap finally. But first step is first. With the above systems in mind there is a new comer in which seems to top them all. So thanks to cb7wagonPL for introducing me to this link. http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1659160&page=1

I am a active member on ht and never ran across this. Anyone on here perhaps have any experience with this kit or their customer service.

for $650, I can't complain about the Omni-powers. Can be a little bouncy, little harsh till broken in. Plus I needed to readjust a couple times while the springs settled, but that's not a big deal. Only thing I don't really like is the very short travel in the rear, on the order of 2 or 3 inches, though it hasn't caused me a problem yet. I do have to slow down for speed bumps more than with the stock stuff, but oh well. Also you'll have to come up with some custom brackets to hold the brake lines. I'm just gonna make some with 'plumbers tape', those metal strips with holes every 1/2" or so, so its not a deal breaker. And I found that I can't get the rears up to stock height unless I add a spacer, while the fronts can go above stock height, also not a deal breaker, just kinda annoying. haven't noticed any noises, even when cold. I have the streets, and I wouldn't recommend the 'race' ones for a daily driver. The streets are quite stiff enough for the rough pavement I go over sometimes.

Not quite riding on rails, but I think I also have weak points with my rear tires and lack of rear sway bar.

i just got my amr engineering coilovers in. i will take pics as soon as i can. they use function 2 as their manufactor. same company that does ksports and d2 coilovers so these should be great. i can't wait to install them. i am doing a tranny swap right now so i will install these as well. they look just as on there page, sweet.

Also, I looked over in the stickies to see how to do a suspension install. My car is already lowered 2". Check the sig to see what I am working with if that is needed. But I am installing coilovers, so in general I can follow the suspension write up to a degree correct. My existing setup will come out as one piece I assume after unbolting and I shouldn't need a spring compressor right. Since the coilovers is already a complete set, I can just basically do a swap with the old correct. So is it cool to just undo all the bolts on the of the mounts before I lift the car and just have to undo from the lca and what not.

The coilovers linked in your thread look nice. However, I have no experience with them nor do I know anyone personally using them. However, I am using the NEX SS Coilovers and they are absolutely great. Below is a link for a set. I purchased mine from EMS parts. I purchased my set for $519 but they have since increased in price.

yeah i was looking into the nex brand. actually the nex gt. as well as the omnipower sports, tein ss, and the ksports. the omnipower were nicely priced at 650 and nice spring rates but didn't have dampner adjustablility. so i passed on them. the nex gt had nice spring rates but only 4 levels of dampneing and cost like 700 bucks. the tein ss, where the most expensive costing like 950 but the spring rate are very soft but had adjustable dampening. they are almost like riding on stock. and the ksports i saw for around 650 as well. high front spring rates and low rear with adjustable dampening. almost went with them til someone from here sent me a link to the amr thread over on ht. they had everything all the other coilovers had but has a lifetime warranty and the option to change out your spring rates if you weren't happy. so i was sold. they weren't as much as the tein but more than the others. the manufacture that makes them is function form. the same manufacture that does ksports and d2 coilovers. i did a lil homework before i made my final decision to give amr the chance. i pm'd everyone that purchased them from the ht thread and everyone gave good comments thru pm and in the thread itself, so i chanced it.

Wow you've really done your homework man. Very good idea. I find it so hard to hold myself back from just buying something as soon as I have the money. Lifetime warranty would be a huge plus for me. With that alone I think I would have gotten these instead of the ksports if I could.

Since talking to you I've become a bit annoyed with the rear ksports. There's something not quite right about them. Not sure what it is. Whether it's the spring rate or what. But it is bouncier than the front. Maybe it's because I've barely got any weight back there but to be able to swap out the springs seems like a brilliant idea aswell.

I guess with alot of brands all coming from basically the same factory they've gotta think of new ways to set them apart. Seems like they've done a good job with the amr. Make sure you post up what spring rates you end up going with and a review once they're in.

Well I recently contacted them and they are very quick to respond to your inquiry ...they do have applications for our models even though it states otherwise on that link. price ranges to about 800$ but with the great comments on honda tech they should be well worth it. The applications are custom adjusted to way the you want them to be. They test their applications for the best ride quality based on the customers desired spec.
