Come to Texas, then you won't have to worry about your car height ever again. There are trucks with 4' lifts on them . And yeah, cars can be as low as they want. I've never had a friend get pulled over for being too low in Texas.

im not sure bout america, but i know that in BC (canada) the law on vehicle height is simple, as long as the body of the car does not go lower then the bottom of the rim your fine. so if you were to remove the rubber from your rims, if anypart of your car is below the bottom of the rim, its illegal.

In NC the headlight has got to be something like 13" off the ground. And its technically illegal to modify the suspention of a car in most states anyway.

I did some searching around the web and really couldnt find much of anything about set bumper heights or anything like that. I looked on the NHTSA's (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) web site and it said that they do not regulate a bumper height requirement and to check with your local city, county, or state agency. I did some checking for my local area and couldnt find anything. I would imagine that somewhere someone has thought of setting a law like this but it would be hard to inforce unless they are going to supply all LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) with a tape measure or yard stick to check on vehicle heights. To me it just seems like the nations LEOs have better and more important issues to enforce. But that s just my opinion. Later.

At any given point there are "hundreds" of laws on the books you can get a ticket for. Many we haven't heard about But SteveB has pointed out the specifics on this one.

Most of the time you won't get hassled. Usually there's some other, larger issue that tempts a cop to dig into his bag of tricks and say, "oh and by the way, this, this and this is illegal on your car." I'm not saying it's right or just, but that's how the game is sometimes played.

I will however say that most of these laws likely came about because some idiot did something stupid to his car once upon a time, creating an unsafe car, and "ruined it" for everyone else.

(An example of a law not many know about in Georgia for example, it that it's illegal to not move over a lane, if you can, when passing a cop who has someone stopped by the side of the road. You know, to give them all some extra space. 99% of the time you can glide by. That other 1% of the time ...)

True.. Many states are also adopting this same kind of law. I know that both Kansas and Missouri, and possibly Iowa all have something similar on the books. IMO this isnt too much to ask for you to move over one lane when possible. Its not saying you have to move over if your next to a big rig. Look next time you see someone pulled over and the cop standing next to the car at how little room there is between that officer and the roadway on which many people speed by. I have done a few ride alongs with my cousin who is now a deputy Sheriff in Hamilton County, IA. but is a former Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper. He usually exited his patrol vehicle when on a vehicle stop and immediatly went over to the passengers side of the stopped vehicle and usually asked the driver to step out and come sit with him in the patrol car. That is for both persons safety. I know its a little off topic but a lot of people dont understand how little workspace a Highway Patrol Trooper, or anyother Law Enforcement Officer for that matter, have when they are on a vehicle stop. Usually just a matter of inches between that Officer and oncoming traffic. If you ever see the red and blues behind you all they ask is that you pull over as close to the curb or edge of the roadway as possible. Later.

theres a law about this but i can careless. if you get pulled over for being too low just ask the cop why dont you pull over a corvette? there just as low or if not lower then. right? but i have never got pulled over for being low just for a loud exhaust and no front plate and i still dont care. theres laws about being too low but i think that cops just want to give you a ticket that will hold up in court, so a low violation ticket is bull shit.
