some play in passenget wheel when jacked up

so recently the cb has been feeling a little off in the handling department. i'm lowered on H&R sports at kyb gr-2's. i jacked up the front passenger side first because that's where i feel i'm losing something. with the car up, i gave it a little push and tug vertically. there's a small amount of play and it looks like the upper ball joint is the culprit. also, the rubber bushing is cracked in 1,000 different places. just to make certain, i lowered the pass. side down, and jacked up the front drivers side. no play at all while performing the "vertical push and tug" test <<< yes i made up a new name.

would it be the better option to just replace both upper tie rods and ball joints at this point?

Tie rods don't cost much ($50 each from honda, but I'm sure aftermarket is cheaper, maybe 50 for both) and they are easy to replace. Just make sure you get aligned after. Upper control arms might be alittle more (over 100 each from honda, dunno about aftermarket prices), and they are sorta easy to repalce also. Just two bolts in the engine bay, and one nut on the knuckle. The only part you'd probably have to go to a shop for is the lower balljoint, which is pressed in. I paid $150 per side to replace them.

Cool, lemme know the prices. I have been changing my susp parts using OEM honda parts, so it's a long expensive process. All I need to do are the upper control arms, if you can find a great price then lmk

the upper control arms are like 215$ each here for aftermarket in cdn price but theres no way a honda one could only be 100$

            I think there's a website for that, but you'd need a password ...

Sounds like a passenger-side upper control arm would help. As for the driver's side, and the tie-rod ends, they're likely OK*.

*OK to a mechanic might not mean the same thing to you and me. "OK" to a mechanic usually just means "play is within acceptable limitsor not-detectable/isn't about to fall off/is safe" whereas for you and I might notice a tasty improvement in driving quality by replacing "OK" parts.

I'd replace both upper control arms to get fresh ball joints on both side. And since you now need an alignment, put new tie-rod ends on first. You'll love the difference if you're car has high miles or has had a hard life.

And that's genuine OEM honda. Aftermarket should be cheaper.
