    strut pooped out on me

alright, my passenger side front strut won't come apart now. in the process of removing the top hat, the hex part of the shock decided to break apart, and round off. now the hex doesn't stay and lock the strut from spinning. therefore, i can't figure out a way to get the bolt off to release the top hat and everything under it. is there anything short of heating and breaking the bolt that i can do to get this piece of crap off?

try locking vice grips onto it and turn them in opposite directions, or hammer a biggen allen key into the hole, try it out and let me know

there's not enough thread left on the top to get any vice grip, plier, or whatnot to lock on. i think that hammering a bigger hex will still cause it to round off eventually. the bolt is on tight, even after spraying bolt loosener

your gona have to use the vice grips on the main shaft below the top hat part. i had to do it when i removed my old struts.

We cut the bolt on my buddies since he got new bolts with his struts and I had one or two laying around the house.

if that's the last resort then i'll do it. im gonna try vice grips first.

BTW, did you guy have trouble compressing the front OEM spring? i cant seem to fit the damn thing in between the coils

just heat that damn bolt and snap it bolts junk strut is junk easyest way, but in order for those vice grips to work u should heat it up first then have your buddy twist it off while heating it up best way.
