    Changing brakes and rotors!!!

since it cost $286 with out the alignment i decided to do this myself with only 3 days till departure for TN

Day 1 - well 1 gallon of water, many cuts and bruises, and a heat stroke later ... i got the passenger side knuckle assembly off but 2 of the bolts are trying to strip so that is gonna make for some fun. im fixing to head over to my father in laws and mess with the air and power tools the whole assembly came off easily with the 2 jaw puller, but now im on the hard part the bolts for the assembly. i have the back 4 off and 2 of the front four off but the other 2 are trying to strip so stay tuned for updates im gonna get some batteries for my dig camera and take some pics for a DIY on this process

Hmmm... I spent a bit more than that, and just did the rotor-over-hub conversion. I was DONE dealing with the brake-headaches on my CB.

Ok sorry for the late update but i forgot i had my internet schedualed to be turned off since i am moving lol ... anyways im at my father in laws now we leave for TN tomorrow since my car decided to be a bit rebellious. so here it goes

Day 2 - Woke up around 8am and decided to take my whole assembly to pepboys to get the 4 front bolts removed since they were trying to strip. Got to pepboys they removed the bolts free of charge since i used to work there and still have friends including the manager. Went home and started trying to remove the rotor only to figure out that it wasnt coming off without a press, soooo back to pepboys i went. $35 to press out the old bearing and press in the new bearing and rotor yayyy. then they tell me they need the four bolts and new rotor which i left at home DOPE! back to the house i go (oh and i live about 15 miles from the shop) grab the new rotor and the bolts and the new bearing. head back to the shop where they work their magic. get the whole assembly back go home and install assembly. get to the breaks ... they gave me the wrong size breaks ... breaks for a mercedes or something lol ... back to pep boys i go to exchange the breaks. ok got he right ones get home and put them on and passenger side is done lol. ok now i know what im doing with the driver side i have the assembly out and im on my way to pepboys with everything withing 45 minuts. they work their magic again and im back home, 45 minuts later its all back together so i bleed them and im done. 1 and 1/2 days on passenger side, 2 hours on driver side lol. but im not finished yet i still need an alignment but its too late today have to go on day 3.

Day 3 - ok wake up around 10 since i was out till 2am partying with friends for a going away party then my wife decided to molest me for a few hours so no sleep till 4 am lol. wake up get dressed get out to my car and nothing no power, nothing. jump my car off it runs fine, ok whatever i must have left something on. get to driving and there is this god awful noise coming from my passenger side so ill have them look at while they have it on the lift. get to pepboys they go to move it into the shop, nothing, no power, nothing, WTF. ok check it out my battery is dead and my altenator is shot FUCK FUCK FUCK. lol. ok chage it what about the noise? my dust shield on the back was rubbing the rottor a little ok thats fixed. everything is finally done. and this time tomorrow i should be going through ATL on my way to TN.

so yeah ill catch everyone up there when i get there and as for the comment with the press yeah your lucky to own one.

damn mission impossible just to do some brakes on a cb7 I hated it when I had to do mine. but a soon to be rotor over hub conversion will be a nice change so I can't wait. I'd just do that next time you decide to replace brakes.

Im doing my now, started today around 4, struggled with it for like 6 hours, and Im barely halfway done. one of the drivers side wheel bearing bolts wont come off, at all, and I dont have a ball joint separator to get the whole knuckle off. so I have to find one of those tommorow. basically, once I get the knuckle off itll be cake, but . . . Ive gotta do that first. Ive got a press ;D. Im replaceing the passenger side axle too. all in all its costing me around 250 to do this. including the axle. Im using Hawk HPS pads this time around, hopefully I like them as much as I liked my EBC Green Stuff pads.

its only took me like 4 to do my rotor over hub swap on my green accord. and thats basically the same amount of work. BUT, i knew where my ball joint separator was then too.
