    Continuing Vibrations

I have had a bad vibration in the front end forever, usually either on acceleration or above 55mph.

I used to be able to just change out the axles and it would be good. But after driving to NC and back with a vibration, now it WONT go away.

I JUST replaced a wheel bearing and lower ball joint on passenger side. Drivers has no play.

2 weeks ago, a new steering rack, tie rods were pretty new, and they also have no play.

The wheel bearing was bad for sure, guessing the steering rack probably wasnt. I have a new set of tires, balanced. Alignment is pretty much within spec.

I noticed that once again, the passenger axle is bad, most likely from the damn 24 hours of driving to NC at highway speeds with a vibration. I havent checked the drivers side, but with my luck, its bad also.

But the thing is, it will vibrate at speed even if I have the clutch in, which I dont think the axle would do since there isnt much play.. its just enough to notice, which should only happen on acceleration. My rotors are a bit warped, whos arent?

Any suggestions? After spending about 300 on crap, and plenty of labor, and not fixing the problem, I am just getting more and more ready to push the car into a canal... a nice offer on it wouldnt be a bad thing either.

I think warped rotors contribute to tolerances throughout the system, what kind of axles do you have?

Are your engine mounts good? I'm polying my mounts and changing a bad axle this weekend...I'm pretty sure that's the source of my problems.

well just like anything else, the axles have to be balanced perfectly as well...

Well... I swapped some stock tires off another one of our accords... I forgot how easy it is to break loose stock sized tires!

I didnt check inflation on them, and they havent been balanced in a while, but never had a problem on that car.

It did not want to shake as much, but did start when i got up to speed and would kinda entice it to. Under braking, it was quite a bit worse.

So I guess I will try having my tires balanced tonight if I get a chance. I guess all 4 wheels could be bent... who knows.

id say its the rotors and you may have a caliper problem check the rest of the ball joints make sure the springs are good mine were broke and replace all the ball joints that you havent along with the tierod ends that you didnt and you should be good struts will cause the sway which will hinder your ball joints replacing the steering rack was an utter waste of money and time due to the fact that i have yet to see one with less than 300000 on it go bad check that tranny mount and the other side mount those effect autozone axles also i have gone through 5 axles b4 i got pissed and fixed everything at once along with aftermarket heavy duty axles stand in front of the car and look at the wheels from about 2 feet away see how they sit do they have a camber angle and what not then jack them up and do the same also try while you have it in the air with all lugs tight grabbing the wheel and shaking it on both sides if they move you have a problem still the shouldnt go in or out while in the air

just some ideas should cover all bases any questions dont be afraid to ask

                good post...

I know the steering rack was a pretty much waste of money and time. But I guess at least it got my lazy ass to finally loop the rack. I still have the old one though.

Bearings are now both good, no wiggle.
Tie rod ends, solid.. new within a few months
Axles... both have a little bit of play in them. Not too much though.
Ball joints, all are pretty new except rear.
Calipers are brand new OEM about 5 months old

Engine mounts, guess I need to look a little harder, but I think they are pretty good.

Camber, yeah, you can see a bit of camber in the front. I dont run a camber kit, just keep the alignment good.

Pads and rotors were cheap shit... and warped like they were. So if it runs better now, I will replace them.

I just took the tires up and had them balanced, he said only one was still pretty balanced, so maybe that will help a little. Havent driven on it, since I took them up there off the car so they could get them done quicker.

aero, hopefully is was just the tire(s) out of balance. But I'm curious, why would warped rotors cause vibration at speed, when no braking occurred?

I also question the need to worry about engine mounts --- you said the vibration was there even when coasting in neutral but didn't say anything about it being RPM-related.

yeah.. i wonder about the rotors aswell.. but if they are really warped, seems possible if the pads are bouncing off of it..

I dont think it is rpm related... just speed related.

Balanced the tires, and I still have the exact same problem. Over 50mph.. it'll start vibrating. Doesnt matter if i am coasting in gear or neutral or engine braking/accelerating. THere is a TINY difference if I am in neutral or in gear, but that could be in my head since it really isnt that much.

Weird after all you checked and replaced. Did you rotate either of the front tires/wheels to the back? You might try that.
                        Then, must be your axle.

How much does your wheel/tire combo weigh? Post here!

yeah, rotation has been done. Damn, I am so sick of cheap axles. At least it only takes me 20 minutes to change them now. I guess thats only if Autozone will replace them anymore. Its been like 5 per side now.
