What size rims for lowered cb7?

Okay, so I read the "Lowering FAQ 101", but still didn't see the answer to my question there. What question is that you ask? Okay, here it is: "What is the largest rim/tire combo you can go with after installing a set of Tenzo R lowering springs that put a 2 & 1/4" drop on your ride?"

At the moment, I have a set of 16" Motegi rims with a tire size of 205/40R16. But I want to have a set of 17" rims. I have been told I could go as large as 17" X 7", but what tire size should I choose in order to avoid wheel well rubbing and all that?

          U can even go as large as18 x 7.5 (with 225/35, 215/35(40), or 19 x 7.5 (with 225/35).
Check this website, U can compare tires (height, diameter, revs/mile.....). It will help U in choosing tires.

              225/40/18 did not rub

              205/40/17 did not rub

and my car is pretty much slammed. i would say 4''1/2 drop with camber kits and doesnot rub tires at all.

Man, I love the color of your ride! Friggin sweet! I need a camber kit in the worst way myself... but I also need new struts, and a new rack & pinion. So I may as well save up and get it all at once, since those three parts all require an alingment after installing anyways... My front wheels sit like this: / \ ! Sad thing is they sit about that badly angled in at the tops! lol! But thanks for your feed back!

I runnin on 18x7.5's right now and I'm not rubbing at all. Whoever told you that 17's are the biggest you can go is wrong. So you can actually bump up to 18's if you want. It's up to you. For me, I'm not racing my CB7, so I went with 18's for show.

Well, CustomLowz never really said 17's were the biggest, but did say I shouldn't have any trouble with'em. It just so happens I know as of right now where I can get a pretty good deal on a set of Motegi 17's. I'm runnin Motegi 16's, but still have some wheel well gap, and all the brake kits I've ever seen for our rides want at least 17" rims, if not 18's to accomidate the slotted/cross drilled rotors. I'm thinking about getting one of those kits in the future, so I will be needing bigger rims. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna run into any problems with bigger rims! It's not that I didn't trust CustomLowz's opinion, just wanted a few extra opinions to be 100% sure.

Somerset area. About 7 miles north of Somerset, and roughly 15 miles north of the infamous Lake Cumberland! lol! 80 miles south of Lexington... So, pretty much south central KY.

                            What about 205/40R17 with a 2 & 1/4" drop? Any danger there?
