You can but i recommend upgrading your shocks. Im running springs on my stock struts. Ride quality still somewhat but handling wise it sucks. And it also depends on how low you want to go if you drop your car around 1-1.5" you can still manage to use your stock struts.

ok from my personal experience.......for lowering springs of 0-2in drop stock struts will eventually blow. even gr-2's will blow on that kinda drop......if your 3+in drop, stock struts/gr-2's will work fine. it will be alittle rough either way with stock struts or gr-2's. i'd go with agx or koni for that type of drop!!! they will last longer and will handle better/feel better

i put eibachs on my x-gf 92 lx..... all struts are blown (stock) and the car is all over the road when u hit a bump. its only been MAYBE 6 months at most. i HATE drivin her car now. i was supposed to buy her agx's but we gt in an argument and now her car is goin back to stock.... no more drop, system, exhaust, or my lude wheels

The stock shock were not intended for use on lowered cars. Unless U have time to waste (assuming U do it Urself) or money to waste (labor for reinstalling new shocks), U rather do it RIGHT once. But it is Ur choice.

he meant full coilover kits, that is an actual coilover that is assembled togher with a strut/shock already. Those kits are costly, but very well worth it.
You are thining of coilover sleeves, which is basically an adjustable springs, either way, if you install either of these(springs or sleeves) your stock shocks/struts WILL blow.
soooooo.... just get some good struts/shocks along with your sleeves or springs. or get a full coilover kit($700+)

i should probably put in some new struts i am still running my stock struts on a 2 & 1/4 drop for over a year now and its still tight and it handles so nice. the suspension doesnt move all that much but it doesnt even bounce like those coilovers do. dont go by me its probably best to put in some new struts

spend the 1500 for some D2's!!!
no, but seriously, as long as you have decent spring rates you can get away with stock struts for a little while. then just get gr-2's unless you really want to adjust then get AGX's. to me its not worth the price, because i have never blown a gr-2 or a stock strut on a QUALITY spring. however, cheap ebay shit will blow your struts in a week.
put it this way (and i just said this in another thread)
my 93 SE - GC coilovers over monroe OE replacements. 3 years, never blown, not a problem probably rides smoother than alot of people on here
my 93 LX - Matrix coilovers over GR-2's in rear, OE in front, no problems. on OE struts for a YEAR now. and i dont live around smooth roads. I work in a shipyard. and i drive it thru an unpaved lot every day.
my two cents: lower up to 2 - 2 1/4 on decent springs use GR-2's. If you need to adjust settings for race, auto-x or any other reason other than daily driving, get AGX's or Yellows.
