My question today involves the planned suspension upgrades to a 1991 Accord Wagon LX that I purchased last weekend. I have been looking at the Tein coilovers but am concerned that it will be too stiff of a ride for daily driving. I like performance and will be running this down to the SCCA events, but will not get away with a bumpy ride from my kids.
Does anyone know the springrate of the stock suspension? The Tein kit appears to have a 336 lbs/in front and 280 lbs/in rear (I believe). What is the springrate on the Accord as is? Will there be a problem with the 200 extra pounds in the rear of the wagon (i.e. will that cause too much problem for the kit?)?
I have used spring/shock combos before as well as using coilovers before and my experience from the past is that it isn't worth trying to save the few hundred dollars as the ride quality from the coilovers is so greatly improved (when set to a soft ride setting) that it pays for itself. Any input on this particular application?
Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
