so I cut 3/4s of my bumpstops off so I have like less then half an inch. And it still compresses that so I have like a 1/4 inch of travel on the strut just b/c whats left of the bumpstop is there. If it wasent it would be touching metal to metal. So do they have shorter struts

Do they make "shorter" struts. . .

if you have koni yellows you can send them in to get shortened...not sure if any other company does this
tein coilovers, omni, d2, and a few other coilovers have adjustable shock bodies

i should have also asked: what springs do you have?
most aftermarket struts, from what i have seen, are already shorter than the stock struts... i would like to assume that the tokico blues are shorter than stock.
i know that accordtunerx is running tokico blues with his neuspeed race springs, and is not having the problem of the strut being too short. i know that h23accord is running neuspeed race springs with koni yellow struts, and is not having the problem of the strut being too short. i know that k-mart is running sprint extreme springs (3 inch drop) on stock shocks, and doesn't complain of the strut being too short.
taking a guess at what's going on, i'm thinking one of 3 things is going on:
1. your struts are blown (it seems quite odd that if you remove the bump stop, the strut compresses completely)
2. you have shocks that give way too much drop (but even then, i'd like to think that the strut would resist being fully compressed)
3. you installed the springs and shocks incorrectly (which i think would be hard to do, but you never know, lol).
i'll refer h23accord to this thread, as he can likely give better input than me.

What spring are you running? And it sounds to me like you have zero suspension travel and that you are basically riding on the bumpstops. It also sounds like your height is purely regulated on how much or little of a bumpstop you have. The Neu. Koni shocks are supposedly a shortened shock. How much it is shortened slips my mind at the moment but it was designed to run with the race springs. A shortened shock is used to give more travel when at a lowered height (laymens terms). Shortened shocks are also typically valved for that lower stance and thus gives the shock the ability to handle it and keep you from bottoming out.
Right off the bat though it sounds like a couple of things:
1. Your springs are too soft or too low for your application
2. If you have coilovers than they are too low
3. If your springs are fine than you need better shocks which, if you are running that low, you should be running better shocks anyway
Now I have no idea what setup you have so maybe once you let us know that info than we can assist you more."This is a jaded bunch. To gain notice, you have to challenge conventional wisdom, test assumptions, and ignore the naysayers."

Neuspeed version of the Koni yellows are the only one's out there for us that have a shorter Rod Length, giving us more suspension travel, so we dont bottom out.91 4DR Accord LX White Auto

You can get some neuspeed race springs from www.neuspeed.com

If you want to have your ride DROPED check into the Omnipower coilovers.
talk to "DrLove'sKuDang" for more info. he has them and even wrote a review on them a little wile back.Last edited by pwrusr; 04-29-2005, 10:38 PM.

If you must slam the car with coilovers, Koni yellows (whether it's the regular ones or the Neuspeeds) are the only way to go. You might get away with Koni reds. I had KYB AGX's with coilovers and they still didn't ride all that nice.

Originally posted by pwrusrRaise it up then. If you ride on that setup like that much longer those shocks WILL blow. And removing the bumpstops are just not a good idea. You do that and your shocks will completely bottom out and they WILL blow.

Originally posted by YK86Tokico blues aren't meant to be lowered that much. They are just a mild performance version of the OEM struts. KYB GR2's are also kind of like that. I had Pro kits (only an inch drop) on my 3rd gen before with Tokico blues and they still felt soft/bouncy.

Originally posted by DRAGGENi believe drop zone makes a shorter strut, as for the quality i have no idea, but your tokico's will blow out...so if you like the low look and want ability to have a smooth ride..air ride.
1. keep your current set up and deal/live with it
2. get different struts- koni yellows versus kyb agx versus possibly drop zone
3. get springs that will give you an extreme drop (like sprint extreme which gives about a 3 inch drop) and sell the coilovers
4. get a real "full coilover" system- omnipower versus tein versus apexi
5. air suspension
