    Spring Rate Questions

Okay everyone, I've been researching about spring rates for a while now and I know the question I'm about to ask is mostly a preference question but I still would like some help and/or some opinions.

First off I have koni sp3 (yellow) struts up front with 1" extended top hats and I have OEM replacement struts in the rear with 3" extended top hats, with Dropzone coil over sleeves all around.

Well I am planing on getting koni yellows for the rear too but I am also wanting to get new springs instead of the Dropzones.

I am looking into some ground control replacement springs to use with my sleeves since the GC coil over kit for our car seems a little soft. The kit for our cars are around 350-400lbs and I am looking to get 550-700lbs for my car.

I am leaning more towards 6" tall, 2.5" diameter, and 600lbs springs. I am using my car as a daily driver and I am wanting 6" springs so I can get low, I know it's impractical for a dd car but w/e that's not the point of my thread. I am also wanting to be able to have a car that handles really well as I may want to autox or just have some fun around some corners.

So the biggest question is, are the 600lbs to soft or are they good for handling and daily driving? Sorry for the rambling and unneeded info but just trying to clarify any questions.

    Thank you!

I'm pretty sure koni recommends not going stiffer than 500-600lb rates. You can call ground control and ask them to be sure. Assuming that's where your getting your springs.

Yes I plan on going with eibach/gc springs. But good to know, I won't be going over 600lbs then unless I get them re-valved.

So, one more thing. I was curious if 450 would be good for the rear, or should I go softer. Cause I heard that the rear spring rate is usually what makes for the feeling of the ride. So I don't want to sacrifice ride quality if I go too stiff in the rear.

This is a very subjective topic but I was very happy w/ the D2 off the shelf rates of 616 front and 496 rear. DD'd for over 5 yrs. IMO, for the rear, I would not go softer than 450 if the front is going to be 600.

              I have F&F type II's with 12k/8k (672/448).
I daily it and it rides really well and when I drive aggressively and it handles great too.

The rear is fine, i have mine set about half way dampening wise.
I wish the fronts were alittle stiffer though. I have mine on full stiff and there is still more to be desired.
If I were to have bough coilovers new I definitely would have went with F&F 2.5 and got 14k/8k.
