Disappointed with Skunk2 coilover sleeve ride height

I recently installed a set of Skunk2 coilover sleeves on my cb7. The ride height in rear is excellent (tucking a little tire) and there is still room to go down if I trimmed the perches on the damper. However, with the front sleeve perches spun all the way down, I still have about a finger gap between the tire and fender. I know I can remove the locking collar from the sleeve to get a little more drop, but has anyone ever tried running just the spring directly on the damper perch without the the sleeve? I realize I may need some sort of a bushing to center and level the spring on the perch. I am running Koni STR.T dampers BTW. Any thoughts?

Really wish the front springs were like an inch shorter...

Also, does anyone know the front spring height for the Integra coilover kit? I know the spring rates are the same 10kg/mm as the accord kit, but if they were physically shorter, that might be another option.

Well I just called up Skunk2 and they offer a 6-in tall spring that is 10-kg/mm . I went ahead and ordered two of those for 30 bucks a piece. Those should get the front end down to where I want it. Not sure why they don't include the set with shorter fronts in the first place . You would think they would design the kit so that the front would have the capability to go just as low as the back. I think if I spun the perches all the way up with the 8-in springs that the car would be way higher than stock!

And why do you say that? I doubt there is a whole lot of quality difference between manufactures when it comes to making a 560 lb/in spring... You're probably going to respond with the stupid high spring rate speech, and that is why there are higher damping coeff. shocks. I myself don't want a soft spring when my oil pan and transmission sit 2-in off the pavement. I am so tired of hearing everyone say that Skunk2 makes garbage. People just think they are garbage because they spin the perches all the way down with no strut mount extensions, bottom out on the shock body, and blame the shitty ride on "stupid high spring rates." Mine rides fantastic and I am only on Koni STR.T's. Far from 100% garbage.

You're right about the damper being a far larger factor in ride quality. You're wrong about there not being much quality in the manufacture of springs. Some can differ by ~20% even though they are sold as the same spring rate (Taiwanese, Chinese crap). Others have virtually no variation at all (Hypercoils, ERS)
There are no black and white suspension answers!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they make a decent camber kit.

Maybe I will try and rig up some sort of spring rate tester. A variance of 20% would be pretty piss poor manufacturing and quality control. I do believe there needs to be some evidence before people start throwing around the word "garbage" just because they have heard it from other people on the internet. I'm sure a 10 kg/mm spring, set as low as it will go, on OEM dampers, and with no strut mount extensions would ride like garbage...

I have riden on garbage and know what garbage feels like. Ebay springs as well as cut springs for example. Like I said before, the Skunk2's with how low my car is, ride excellent in my opinion.

Every person I know that has had Skunk2 suspension components has had a complaint about them. My friend across the street had Skunk2 springs with Koni Yellows. The ride was awful, and made clunking sounds that we still aren't able to explain. My used H&R Race springs have since replaced his old Skunk2 crap. The ride is better, and the sound is gone.

Yes, hard data would be much better than simply summarizing the experiences of a handful of people on this website... but the complaints have been pretty consistent about Skunk2 products, moreso than any other "name brand" product.
They have one job to do, and they seem to do it poorly... in my mind, that's 100% garbage.

Shiiiiiet, I had Skunk2 springs with Skunk2 shocks and the ride was terrible. You'd think they'd be able to pair their own components up correctly, but that'd only be the case if they did R&D for each application, not just Civics and Integras then apply the same numbers to other vehicles.

I too had an odd knocking sound when I'd travel bumpy roads. It was in the rear passenger side. I could never replicate the issue with the car in the air. And like your friend, the sound went away when I changed suspension setups.

Yeah mine don't clunk or make odd sounds at all. Could have to do with me having extended strut mounts and the shorter spring actually being preloaded into strut like factory. I could see the Skunk2's, or any shorter spring for that matter, moving around in the strut and making sounds if it was not fully contained.
