no, the OEM uppers boots were torn and ragged (being 15 years old) so I replaced with the restoration kit.
The day I installed them I was on my way to work, hit a pot hole (which I've done before) and the uppers went through the a-arm.
I then bought spc adj. upper ball joints to replace the rest. kit ones that failed.____

should i just get new poly bushings for the control arms, SPC upper balljoint and OEM lower ball joints instead of the TAS restore kit? I don't want to have to replace things again after i replace them once already.
i've found SPC uppers for 80 each, ES bushings for 40 both sides and OEM lowers for only 35 each. hmm that's 270 bucks.
* well i'm not lowering my car anytime soon either so maybe i could substitute the SPC uppers for NAPA parts and drop the cost 80 dollars.Last edited by Leung; 08-05-2009, 02:14 PM.

Do NOT buy napa...they are the SAME manufacturers but higher priced...in a napa box.
Honestly the tas uppers and lowers are just fine...as long as you don't have pot holes.
I've seemed to get lucky with some parts lasting forever when they shouldn't (my axles from oreilly, original upper balljoints) and unlucky with others (tas uppers)
But since another user here has seen consistent bad luck with that particular manufacturer (I must again point out that tas is not the manufacturer only the seller...I have nothing but good things to say about TASauto) I decided to not use the lower ball joints.
This "bad luck" has not been catastrophic failure as they have described it....just reduced life expectancy of the parts, they wear faster. But that is word of mouth only not my ACTUAL exp. Again...mine failed before that point via a pot hole...but again...my old uppers took that abuse with no issues so I'll let you make that call for yourself...I just don't like the idea of reduced life expectancy from a critical component...even if it IS just based on word of mouth, the OEM lowers aren't overly priced IMO
It depends on what you are doing...At first I just wanted to fix my ball joints before they failed and caused a wreck...but I eventually plan to lower my car and replace all my bushings with polyurethane. But after they failed as a result of shitty county roads I figured I should go ahead and upgrade the upper ball joints.
If I hadn't already purchased this kit then I would have just bought bushings and adj upper ball joints, utilizing stock upper arms.
I should point out...I don't do things like most people I know...I over do a lot and play it safe when I don't always need to.____

My brother works for a tire place down in Lexington and they use exclusivley NAPA parts, they order so much they they basically get stuff at cost. Even though NAPAs website says the public pays 40 bucks for BJ, my brother can get them for 26 a shot.Last edited by Leung; 08-08-2009, 12:52 PM.

well i said screw it and ordered the TAS kit and had them substitute me the kits lowers BJs for OEM BJs.
after shipping it only came to be ~230 bucks. not bad. Customer service was very friendly as usual. replacing all these shouldn't be a problem.
a coworker's husband works at Midas, so i could ask him to press out the two lower BJs and back in the two new ones. This is going to be fun.

I just ordered the ebay replacements. like two days ago now. But im hoping that its going to work out. Its gotta be better then what i have right now. I barely even have ball joints, mine basically look like a nut and bolt, the boots are gone to nothing. Who else has had the ebay kit if you dont mind me asking.
