how would u guys rate the Koni STR's

I dont hav a bunch of cash to blow on shocks and springs. I rarely go to the track/strip but i was hoping that these would withstand track/strip driving as well as daily trips!
Are these shocks worth the money? If so, what springs would be a good match

I am waiting to hear about someone else liking these. Someone had them on an Integra and liked them a lot... but I need to hear about them with a setup like what I plan on having (Neuspeed/H&R Sports) on an Accord. I think they will work fine but I need to be sure.

i asked cuz they're inexspencive and would be nice for somebody like myself that has a budget.
if you git anymore info on these just post it!

I think you are going to be disappointed. Those springs are way too stiff. I hear they are valved similar to Koni Yellows at their softest setting which would not work for 500/400# springs. The stiffest I would try with these would be Eibach Sportlines... and even those might be too much

                From softest to stiffest

                Neuspeed/H&R Sports
                Tein H/S Techs
                Intrax/Progress/Vogtland
                Tanabe DF210s
                Sprint 2.5"
                Skunk2
                Eibach Sportlines (questionable)

Springs that def. wont work are anything Race labeled.

I've driven around on my neuspeed race springs with koni yellows on full soft. Damping-wise, its a fine ride. Neuspeed race and H&R race have identical rates, except for a 5 lb difference in the rear...so its negligible. If the STR's ride like Koni yellows on the softest setting, it will ride fine...my only concern is that they aren't built as strong as the yellows, and while they may dampen the race springs adequately....I doubt they can do it for as long as a Koni yellow...in other words, they'll blow faster I'm willing to be.

Drew, I wouldn't risk it. I should have let you ride in my car while I was up there since I have basically the same springs you'll be running. The lowest end/weakest shock I would even TRY with race springs would be like Tokico HPs...if the damping adjustment isn't a big deal to you....why not save a little more and get some Koni Reds? I know they will work perfectly fine with the race springs.

Gloryaccordy, are you sure about that order of softest to stiffest? I'm pretty sure Tein springs are softer than H&R and Neuspeed sports....not to mention Skunk2 springs are known for being pretty stiff....and Eibach's Prokits and Sportlines are actually the same springs rates.
There are no black and white suspension answers!!!!!!!!!!!

so what ur sayin is that even with a moderatly stiff spring and the STRs set soft they wouldnt last as long as u would expect

the skunk2 COILOVERS springs are like 502 so by that would be to stiff for the str. but the NORMAL SPRINGS are progressive rate so they might work you would have to ask skunk2 about the "spring rates" they are different then the coil overs.

                      Sold too: Grumpys93, '93CB7Ex, Bunta, prodh22accord, SSMAccord, fleetw00d

You are right about Teins being softer than Neuspeed/H&Rs... 246/150ish vs 280/175ish. I don't know what rate Prokits are but I have heard the rates for Sportlines being 400/250.

It sounds likely (to me) that they may well be exactly the same as yellows but minus any adjustment in the rebound valve (i.e. the valve is simpler and thus less expensive). This would be similar to Koni 'reds' in that reds are exactly the same as yellows but valved more softly with no external adjustment (they do have an internal rebound adjuster).

Whatever, they are Konis and I'm (fairly) sure the intrinsic quality will be significantly superior than most other brands, why would Koni risk their hard earned reputation by using inferior components...
                          Regards from Oz,
                          John.

Even if Koni outsourced these to say Monroe or w/e, I am confident in the design of these. They def. seem a safer bet than Tokico Blues or the awful awful basically OEM spec Skunk2 shocks.
