Tire size makes a huge difference too. I recently went from 205/50R16s to 205/60R15s just in front and it feels like a totally different car

I want to get my hands on some AGXs, but given how much they bitch about drop heights for the warranty I would bet the travel on them is limited, and the perch sits higher than stock.
The height you sit at makes a HUGE difference in ride quality. I have 440/300 sleeves on my car now with Illuminas. When I was at the height in my sig it rode like absolute shit. I raised it up to maybe a little lower than a Neuspeed Sport drop (about 13"-13.5" from fender to wheel center) and now it's pretty tolerable even on shitty NYC streets.
As far as that setup, I would definitely want something welded up over something with bolts like that. All it takes is one jolt to strip those bolts clean. It wouldn't take much for someone to rig up something like this
Even still though that wouldn't solve the UCA issue. Best bet, don't go too low if bumps + comfort are a problem, and def. go with Koni Yellows over all else
so these top hats wuld be ideal for a coilover setup???
(not ebay crap but a good name brand set)

But for someone with stock style shocks (Koni Yellows, AGXs, Illuminas etc) extended top hats would be a godsend. One inch of extra stroke makes a huge difference in ride height.

Thats exactly the setup i plan on doing (i have this setup on my civic). I just need to measure how much metal tubing i need for the front.
I lowered the strut body to gain extra travel aswell.Last edited by Ant; 06-03-2009, 05:18 PM.Vouches: Bruno8747, 1badwag, Excalibur02, Bliz07, Slick, Gloryaccordy, H23CB7.

Here's a link to all of Tein's spring rates:

Here's pwrusr's findings for Neuspeed:
Neuspeed Spring Rates
Maybe that'll be of use to someone in the future.

But, there's no way in hell I'm not going back to stock ride height to get stock spring rates.
And stock spring rates on a 2"+ lowering springs will most likely lead to destroyed bump stops.
So here goes the question. What's holding me back from running springs like the Tein S-tech that have a soft spring rate (roughly 250/160), cutting them until I get back to about a 2.2" drop, and then running elevated spring perches, a la:

Theoretically, this would get me back to a respectable drop, give me soft spring rates, and give me the shock travel necessary to avoid bump stop devastation.
Someone tell me what I'm missing and shoot down my plan.
Or, if someone can think of a better way of staying low but having a decent spring rate, fire away.
When I get a chance, I'll try to gather more spring rate figures.
