    Type 2 coil overs

I was wondering if anyone has this setup on their car. I have this setup on my car right now. The problem is going over any bumps I hear loud thudding sounds. I was wondering do i go soft or hard on the knobs you can turn. Would love some insight on this.

Where is the "thudding" coming from and how low are you? Also, do you have any camber kits or other aftermarket suspension components?

Front - Could be your upper control arms banging the inner fender.
Rear - Could be your rear knuckle making contact with your rear upper control arms

I have Type II's as well and I have no problems using an upper balljoint camber kit up front and adjustable rear upper control arms from Wicked Racing. There is occasional contact between the rear upper control arms and the rear knuckle, but it is nothing major and is very quiet.

well its not very loud just when i hit bumps i hear a whacking sound thats comes from under the fender both front and back. But I guess a camber kit is in store for me now. But how should I have it set for regular street driver. Soft or Hard

the setting is all personal preference. i personally have my type 2s set at 6 clicks in the front and 4 clicks in the back...

x2, it also depends on what types of streets you have where you live and drive. Nicer the roads you have the stiffer you can go without being jostled all over the place. Set it at a fairly soft setting and gradually go up until you have found a good compromise between ride quality and handling.

I'm at about the same settings as mcdizzle ( 6 front 6 rear - wagon)

Installed as of May 12th, 2008. Ride just the same as they did the day I put them in.

from this site. Go to the Classified and you will see the store to buy them from. I got mine back in January. I also got mine for 750 and not 850 shipped. I am not sure if they are still running that special on them.

Hey I was also wondering do I have to put the car on jacks to adjust the damping system on the type 2.

I bought mine straight from F2 as well. Go to their website and just star emailing them. They'll set you up right. Plus, they are great people to work with.

No, you can adjust the dampening with the car on the ground. At least that's what I do.

Probably the best place to get them other than the actual company themselves.

yeah, I have the type 2's as well and the knocking issue in the rear is definitely an issue. so you think if I purchase those rear adjustable upper control arms it should solve the problem? Whenever I go over any kind of bump it sound like my car's world is coming to an end haha.

There are two reasons why there is a lot of noise from the rear end.

                          1) The Rear Upper Control Arm is making contact with the Rear Knuckle whenever you hit a bump.

                          2) Because these coilovers use a direct metal to metal connection rather than using a rubber seat on the top of the mounting plate. This causes you to feel and hear a lot more than you would with your stock rear suspension.

Buying adjustable arms can aliviate problem 1, but it depends on the brand you buy. As far as I know, Ingall's Adjustable Smart Arms are the only arms that have the correct clearances to prevent this knock issue with the Rear Knuckle. Other brands, such as Wicked Tuning (what I have), are straight arms which contact the Rear Knuckle just as bad as the stock arms do, if not worse.

And just FYI, my suspension is loud as shit. If you get into certain levels of suspension upgrades you can't expect monster handling as well as a smooth, quiet ride. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

excellent, I'll check out the Ingalls rear arms. And I understand my car won't ride like a Lexus, but there is no reason for it to be that loud haha. It scares the shit out of me every time.

I wonder if I put something in between the mounting bracket and body of my car, if that will help the problem.

                            thank you very much

and any insight on where I can find these smart arms? Every site I find Ingalls only has their rear camber adjustments.
