    suspension techniques sway bars

    i had sus. tech sway bars, front and rear, installed and i already had a monza performance catback exhaust installed......now that both are on i think my exhaust pipe is knocking against the sway bars when going over bumps....anyone else have sus. tech. sway bars and a catback with the same problem....if so or not what can i do to remedy this problem other than having the exhaust professionally bent to accomadate.....help me... i cant stand that knocking noise its damn embarissing ( is that spelled right? )......

    i have the ST rear sway bar; I have no problems with it clearing my exhaust piping.

      There will always be exceptions but most of the time, if you buy an exhaust that was strictly designed for our car model/years, then you shouldn't run into any problems w/ the ST rear sway bar because the piping would travel similar/identical paths to the stock.

      However, if you've gone with custom systems, and/or universal setups with much bigger piping, then you've pretty much shot yourself in the foot. You can either opt to have the piping bent as much as needed to accomodate the bar. And/or try to wrap the bar with something and wedge it between the bar and where the pipe hits. Of course this may only reduce the sound and you may have to go back every-so-often to replace the cushion.

        the monza catback was a direct no hassle bolt on and it follows the same path as the stock....i know cuz i laid them side by side to compare....so looks like i might have it bent to accomadate....will this effect the exhaust's performance

          depends on how much u bend.. the biggest thing that it will change is the sound.. but like i said that depends on how much you bend..
          i dont think you will lose any power..
          i dunno how you would bend it without actually making the inside diameter uneven..
          only solution is to take it to a muffler shop and remove the exhaust and have them bend it as lil as possible to clear.. it wouldnt be a mandrel bent but atleast its not crimp bent lol.. or u taking a hammer at it

            no way in hell would i take a hammer to anything in/on my car....that thought scares me...but good to know that power loss shouldnt be an issue....proly take it to midas or something...dont really know of any good tuning shops in ATL area....if anyone does LET ME KNOW PLEASE

              ATL area here!

              i go to knowledge performance in kennesaw, which is north of atlanta. it's worth the drive. i stay in downtown atl, i go to medical school, and to say my time is limited is an understatement. trust me, it's worth the drive.

              they are open wednesday through sunday. if/when you call, ask to speak with chris (he doesn't work sundays though). he will help you out, as he knows a ton. they are definitely very knowledgeable up there (hence the name). he ordered and had my greddy exhaust in 3 days, had my greddy lip (r.i.p) in 2 days. i've been going there since may, and was upset that i hadn't gone there before. honestly, if they can't get the part, it probably doesn't exist. they are also one of the few authorized tein dealers in the state of ga.

              and if you just like cars, that's the place to go. they use dynapack to dyno tune cars- they've done a turbocharged h22 5gen (saw the dyno sheet, put down about 405 peak hp), wrx's up the ying-yang, race-prepped bmw m roadster, turbocharged and nitroused crx, etc. etc. they also do street bikes.

              another website to check out is importatlanta .

              fyi, there are other shops in the atlanta area that do good work, but i just prefer knowledge.
