    drop and rim size

so i'm dropping my car on skunk2s (shocks and springs) which is 2 inches front and 1.8 in the back.

i found these rims cheap. 18" enkeis on 215/35...

what should i know? they fit? cvboot issues? gas mileage? rim damaging with the tire size? etc etc.

215 35 is kinda small. the norm is 215/40-18.
they will fit, though. there wont be any cv boot issues. if anything, the larger wheel will give more clearance than the smaller OE wheel.

if the roads around where you live have many potholes, then you would prolly damage a wheel if you run through one at normal speed.

that being said, the overall diameter will be ok, but you also need to have the proper offset as well.

most fwd application 18s are 7.5 inches wide, and, for that, you're going to need an offset between +40 and +45mm

18" not the best choice but I see you like the bling. They will fit with the correct offset. 17" is a better fit and will give a better choice of tires and less problems. Yea I'm in Denver too and the roads ain't great. So.........what ever you can live with.

18s fit fine, so how are 17's a "better fit"? lol

and 18s also dont have any problems. the one thing that you have correct is that 17's will give better tire choices, but how many sizes can you run on an accord?
not too many, really. and 215/40-18 is a common size, and is a pretty cheap tire to come by.

Yea your right running a shorter sidewall on a 18" will be less problematic than a taller sidewall. I mean those 17" squirm all over the place. What the hell was I thinking.

being a sarcastic ass really isn't helping this guy out. 18s will fit. they can be plenty comfortable in a daily driver, even with a shorter sidewall.

the tire comfrot is more dependent on sidewall stiffness than how thick it is. my bro-in-law has the same size tires on his accord as i have on mine. i've got bfg g-forces, and he has toyo proxes4's and his are WAY more comfortable than mine.

and having a 17 with a 215/45 isn't really going to be much different handling than an 18 with a 215/40. the 18's will have better roadholding, albeit they will be heavier, if keeping with the same wheel style.

that's fine. they'll fit and all, but i've seen too many cars with bent lips from running too small of a tire.

he's right. i know over here in the northeast and you run 35's for sidewalls, you WILL have a bent rim, no matter how careful you are... i'd run at least a 215-40-18, thats what i ran on my old CB, on my new CD i've got 215-45-17 and notice no difference in handling or comfort from my 18's.. i'd say go with a bigger sidewall to be safe.

running 215/35-18 for over 2 years with out damaging rim ...rim quality also mater's. cheep gravity cast "made in china" wheels like 90% of the stuff out there will bend with your average pot hole. Now wheels that are pressure cast like most Japan, Germany and good old made in America wheels will be stronger and able to sustain more impacts. Thats why I always preach not all wheels are the same.

In Need of an engine, just a basic f22a...pm me if you have one willing to part with.

it kind of rub if you do a U-TURN

yup i got 215 35 18 not really bling bling like everyone thinks about 18s it just depends on how fast ur trying to go .. me im just low and slow with this accord but my other 1 was a 2 door with a h22 on 19s for daily and was still eatin up the majority of anything with a 35 series tire.
