Good tower braces are very rigid (including the attachment brackets), and work well. Bad braces are not very rigid (often the brackets are the weak point, but the bar itself may not be stiff enough), and don't work well.
With a well designed tower brace it makes no in principle difference whether the brace is a one or three piece design, the bolts that attach the bar to the brackets don't act as hinges as seems commonly thought.
No tower brace provides any increase in vertical stiffness, they only increase lateral stiffness at the towers, i.e. the only significant force that can be resisted by a tower brace is a force that passes through the bar in compression or tension, no tower brace (one piece or three) has nearly enough 'beam' strength to resist vertical chassis flexure to any significant degree.
I suggest you do a search as above and read through some of the tower brace discussion on this site.Regards from Oz,
John.
