Final decision: SCK vs Tein SS coilovers

Alright, I'm pretty set on the koni yellow/neuspeed race combo.

My dilemma: I live in the snow area. Just the other day I came up my driveway and was bottoming out on stock suspension. Its no biggie, but ice, ruts, speed bumps, etc could kill my downpipe, exhaust, mudflaps, etc.

I hear that coilovers would be my optimal choice. Tein Basic are rubbish I hear. I was looking at Tein SS and they're about $900 whereas the SCK is about... $650 total.

I think the adjustability might be worth it.

    Tein SS vs SCK?

    Tein SS = $900
    SCK = $650

a). what would you get under my conditions and why?
    b). worth the cost?
c). which has superior handling AND comfort?

thanks, with any luck I'll have this all resolved:P

is that the super cup kit you're talking about looking at the price I would think so, but as for what to get it seems you should get something that has adjust ability so I would go with a full coil set up as for tien I dunno I think they are over priced for what you get and there are far superior products like the function over form type-2 coils that are for sale through a member her in the for sale section. Here is the link to the thread I am talking about and the performance is much more than on the tiens because these coils were designed around our chasis.

well I say you cut out the tiens cause they aren't really worth what you pay for them. And the ff type-2s are cheaper than the tiens.

I think the cup kit might be a better system if you just want to "set it and forget it."

If you would like to fine tune the suspension system and possibly want to adjust it often, the Teins are good, but getting an alignment every time you readjust your height is not cheap.

what do you mean the teins are rubbish? they are 336 lb springrate. You arent comparing apples to apples my friend. The Race springs are 500+

um I wasn't comparing the tiens to the cup kit, I was comparing them to the function over form type-2s and compared to those tiens are garbage. Imo tien is an overrated and wwwwaaaaaayyyy over priced brand.

                    I just re-read your 1st post,

I say go with some mild springs (Tein H-Tech) and get the Koni Yellow dampers and match that with some sway bars. The neuspeed springs are a little low, and will greatly reduce your inner fender space, u know where all the snow and ice get stuck.

I think you will have more fun with this setup, especially living in the snow belt. Bottoming out is not fun and it greatly reduces your street performance, and changing ride heights all the time can get tedius; especially when you have to do an alignment all the time.

I am currently running Tein H-Techs, ST sway bars and Tokico Blues; in the summer I am switching to the Koni Yellows as well as installing all new bushings. I am expecting some good results.

IF you want adjustability, go with koni yellows and some ground control coil over sleeves.

Adjustability is nice for colder weather. I learned that the hardway by losing part of my lip to a chunk of ice. Guess who won.

how much can you move with this?

I might just go SCK and hope for the best.

Best bet would be the SCK. Konis are the best shocks available for the $$$, springs are just peripheral.
