Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

So almost 3,000 for 160 HP seems a little rediculous?

It's not that much for the performance parts needed. The performance parts alone need where in the $1600-1700 range. Adding all the new OEM gaskets, seals, etc. to this project could have come close to that. It is reality, whether you like it or not. I do complete work, I don't half-a$$ things. That is why my car is reliable. This motor had no engine leaks, everything ran great.

He's anal about everything, so he likes spending his money on things that aren't 100% necessary. The biggest probably being head work for such a mild build. The same power level could be achieved without that $900 price and a lot of the OEM replacement parts he bought.

You can cut the price by around half if you shopped around for better deals and cut back on a few OEM seals.

But welcome to the world of Naturally aspirated motors. It costs to play in this game.

Yea I think maintenance should be separated from absolutely necessary support for mods (like valvesprings for cams for example). While this is def. an ideal way to approach it, I think that one dude w/the Bisi Stg II build's build is more realistic cost-wise for the avg. tuner.

The intelligent tuner would be able to distinguish what he needs. They would also be able to analyze the condition of their motor and do the appropriate maintenance so they have a reliable motor, otherwise all mods will never achieve max potential or sacrifice durability.

Like Jose said, I am anal about doing things right the first time. I also put high mileage on my motors and I wasn't building this mild F22 NA build for short use, it was my daily driver and I am driving it into the ground. I don't like dealing with stupid issues like a motor with better performance, but I have a bad front main seal leak and have to put 2-3 quarts of oil per oil change interval. I don't like dealing with misfiring due to bad rocker arm assy O-ring oil leaks into spark plug tubes. I have realized many people with modified motors, fail to tell you the ridiculous problems they have on a daily basis because they cheaped out on their build, but they are quick to brag about how much power they think or did make or who they beat in a race. Besides, the reality with our F22 motors are they are mostly high mileage and do need some type of maintenance work before proceeding with some performance build, otherwise we'd be modifying current model year vehicles here.

Robert, if you must know, this build was a conglomeration of extra parts that I did not use for my white project. I learned of Bisimoto late in this red project, that is why the lack of your company's product. If I was made of money, I would have swapped that Delta 272 for Bisi level 2 F22 camshaft. I also wanted to mate an H-series tranny to this setup, but it all did not happen.

The main purpose of this thread is to show the reality of a build, that parts all add up. People don't consider the things in between that do cost money and will add up. Performance parts are not the entire cost of a build, you have to factor in other things to make it all work and get it all completed properly.
