Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.


The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.


For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.


Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    Motor!!!

    i have a problem on my car..my car is idleing erracticly...rite when i turn on my car...it idles at 2,500(that's normal)but when it idles that high..it automaticly drops to 2,000..2,500-2,000..continously...then when it hits warming point...it goes frm 1,500 thru 1,000...automaticly...it doesn't stop..it just keeps going...it sounds like a vacum leak but its not..i check all my vacum hoses and it's all connected...im also thinking that i might be leaking on my egr valve..but i can't seem to locate it...could it also be my gasket...??..does any of u guyz have this problem...can u guyz pls help me in this one.....im lost.....

    First of all what motor are we talking about. I think this is another case you the FIV and IACV going bad again. Give me more details. Does the car seem sluggish at any time or does it run fine but it idles erratically? I will be back on a little later but i will answer this for you.

      guessing by his name i'd guess he has an f22a4. (90 accord ex)

      Has to be 5spd, has to be CHEAP. SUPER CHEAP. Will be in Indiana in February permanently and want a project car when I get settled in.

        have you done anything recently to the car? I had a similar problem when I messed up the throttle body gasket. make sure everything is tight, but sounds like a vacuum leak. do you hear any hissing sounds?

          It can be a number of things we need him to post any other symptoms he knows of.

            could be bad gasket, or idle and FIV needs to be adjusted...

              check the idle air control valve, thats what was wrong with mine when my car did that!

                He still didn't reply...I kinda hate when people start problem threads and don't even keep us updated...

                Anyhow. LIke, I said before it can be so many different things. We need more info bnh9tyacrdEX. Post ASAP!!!!!!!!

                  sorrie bout that...i've been busy lately...my motor isn't slughish...it's running hella fine..trust me...nothing is up with my motor..but that erratic idle....that's the onlee problem..let's see...i took out the intake pelium...and the throttle body...and there's that one thing that is bolted on to the manifold...where there's a harnest to connect it...the one for the fuel injectors..and there's a hose that connects to it..the one for the coolant...it's rite under the throtle cable..the one that connects to the gas line....i didn't really get to tighten it...i onlee tight one side...i think that may be the problem...one more thing..i also just remebered..that..my car use to do that when i don't start the car for about 1hr or so..just aslong as the motor is cold..but it won't do it rite away..it'll stay up for a while like how it should..then about a min or 2...it'll start doing that..then when the motor get's a bit warm...it'll stop....and frm what i heard..it's my tps(Throtle Position Center)....but yeah...i hope this is enough info's...

                    one more thing...nope to vacum leak..no hissing sound...and my motor is an F22A4...that's about it..

                      Thank you for that last bit of info. Its the FIV or the IACV. Buy them on ebay, they are pretty cheap.

                          There's a thread in the DIY section covering this. I had the same problem with my car. This fixed it. Check the photos and read the thread. Essentially all you have to do is tighten the white thingy every now and then. You don't need to take anything apart to get to the white thingy. Simply undo two screws and remove the cover plate.


                          By the way, anbody know what that's called and where I can get a new one. Mine comes loose every couple of days. Thanks
