Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    H23 Cams

I am not asking about where or what kind of performance out of a certain brand of camshafts, but why in the hell is Crower Stage 1 cheaper than OEM from RockAuto by about $400?

    OEM is expensive.

Excuse for upgrade if needing a replacement.

Exactly. I might need new cams but I am no expert in the matter. If the cams that came with the engine are good, I will save the Crower for a different day.

Be careful if you do the cam switch... did a stage 2 upgrade on mine and they said I wouldnt have to shave or press the valve guides down any but when I changed my oil I found lots of peices of tiny springs and rubber from where the cams chewed up the valve guide seals. had to go back to the machine shop who put the head together and "checked" about the clearance and made them fix it for free, just something for you to keep in mind to look for if you do swap them.

I try not to down talk anyone, when I read my old questions I realize I was an idiot too.

Cams usually don't get so terribly worn that they need to be replaced. If they do, then that's a very clear indication that something else is likely to be very very wrong.
A cam can snap, but that is similar to a broken timing belt... with similar carnage as a result.

That is what happened to my F22, except the idiot over tightened the timing belt and it snapped and well, shit, $1200 later my car is now running again and now I want an H23.

If you're looking at an H23 with damaged cams, expect other issues to go along with it, though. Cams will wear a bit over time, but it won't be terribly noticeable.
