Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

hey guys theres a guy on craigslist that is selling skunk2 stage 1 camshaft for 200. its brand new which is very cheap i went on the skunk2 site and checked out the specs and it say its good for a stock motor. i just wanna hear some of the people on this site opinion. is it good for a stock motor? will it harm my motor at all? will i or should i build my head and also if its ok to use stock camgears on the skunk2 camshaft? my car is tuned on crome but what kind of hp gain will i get. any adive will help p.s i will be tuning my car again after i put the cams in.

From what my friend says that builds blocks, he says std1 cams are usually DD streetable. As far as gains depending on health of the motor and tuner. look to gain about 8-12hp realistically.

You're speaking about it as if it were singular? Do you mean only the intake camshaft is for sale?

That means you believe what the engine importer says huh. Stage 1 cams should be good. Just don't rev over redline

For longevity a tune would be highly recommended. I wouldn't just shove them in there and assume everything will be alright for the long run.

You are correct. However OP did not say if they are tuner stage 1 or pro stage 1. Tuner 1s are fine with stock valvetrain, however pro series you must upgrade valvetrain. I am runing tuner stage 2, top end power gain is nice. Coupled with my skunk2 intake manifold some low end was lost, but with a gain of 29 whp.

Skunk2 hand engraves the end of their camshafts. It should say S 2 on the 'distributer' end. Other than that way of telling if theyre legit, there is no way of figuring the 'stage' except measuring the lift and duration
