Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    cumbustion chamber reshaping

    Hey guys,
I have been lurking around the internet, but can not find what I am looking for. Does anybody know a reputable ma hine shop that can weld and reshape an f22 cumbustion chaimber? I am planning on building a high reving high compression motor and I'm scared of detonation. Mike Kojima mentions this topic in his book, but does not mention shops that are capable of doing this, just race teams that use this method. I would like to clover leaf my cumbustion chaimber after I port and polish the head.

From what I understand of this process, there's a reason why Mike Kojima only mentions that race teams do it. Unless you're just made of money you probably won't be doing it. I believe that after the welds are finished the head has to be re-heat treated, among other things to ensure longevity. "High Revving/High Compression Builds" have been and will continue to be built without this machining method.

However if you're really interested in the process, I would start calling some brands that have a pretty heavy race schedules such as Bisimoto, 4Piston, Golden Eagle, RLZ, Endyn, etc.

Bisimoto would be your best bet. I don't know if Bisi has the headwork done in-house, or if he outsources it to his specs, but he's pretty much mastered the art of getting the most out of the F22A head.

As Joey said, though, a considerable amount of headwork done by someone that knows how to make it effective will cost a good deal of money. I'm assuming you're in the process of building a serious high-horsepower F22A? Such a modification wouldn't be suitable for anything other than a very serious build.

You might get some idea as to what is involved in welding a cylinder head.

I'm thinking of a 300hp all motor build and I want to build to last, Thanks for your input I found out that DRP racing can do this as well they have done some sick b motor heads. I am going all out, I'm buying the valvetrain, level 3 cam, sleeves, pistons, and rods from bisimoto. I have not decided what compression I would like to run yet. My goal is a weekend track car, and maybe continue as a daily. Oh I forgot to mention I would like a 8k redline.

It sounds like you've been scouring assorted websites saying "I want this, this, and this." But at the same time, it seems like you're asking a question as in you want to be told how to build a motor. A 300whp F22A will be far from streetable I'm sure first off. Plus, this sounds like a $10,000+ build in parts alone if you pull it off; but based on the structure of your posts I don't believe you have the knowhow to get there. I don't mean to be a downer, but I won't hold my breath.

I'm simply planning out a build at this point and yes I am planning on a $6000 motor build I'm not going to build it all right now, but I'm going to start gathering the parts and build this up in the duration of a few years. I have torn apart a few blown motors before and I do understand how they work and what part does what. Right now I'm building up my chassis so that it can handle a 300hp motor

Joey is right about it not being streetable, though. 300whp N/A will definitely be expensive (and $6000 probably won't cut it...) and it DEFINITELY won't be street-friendly. HondaFan81's F22A is probably making closer to 250whp, I believe cost him at least $10,000, and he says it's not very pleasant to drive on the street.

And you don't have to get everything from bisimoto, he's just a middle man and it sounds like you may want to have parts custom made for your application. If you are going to weld the chambers then pistons and rods may need to be changed to fit your app. Id see if you can run a custom billet stroker crank.

His header and cam are a must have
