Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    exhaust: 2.36" vs. 2.5"

On a mild H22 n/a build (valvetrain, cams) which would be better?

I already have a Rsr 60 mm (2.36") ID exhaust, and I love it. I was just wondering if I will be robbing myself of some extra horses or tq by not being a true 2.5" ID exhaust. Input?

Your current exhaust is fine for anything up to about 5k rpms. If you want to maximize your power above 5k you'll get it with a larger exhaust with the expense of a loss of power below ~3k. In general though, the H22 does well with a 2.5"-3" exhaust, especially when you add cams and valvetrain upgrades.

Along with this just make sure you have a quality header and true 3" intake piping to maximize the gains from the cams.

And a TUNE, you'll gain alot from a good tune!

Yea the header I have has a 2.5" collector, and even though its not that much of a difference between 2.36 and 2.5, I want it as free flowing as possible. So you think maybe 3"?

If your header is 2.5" don't go smaller than that. For a stock h22 2.5" would be fine but since you will have cams and hopefully a tune which will move your powerband up the rpm range you'll want your exhaust velocity to be optimum at this higher rpm range and thus you will be better off with the 3".

3" is the way to go, makes power on an otherwise stock engine
