H23 Delta 272 camshaft issues

f22b and h23 cams have the exact same lift. even with the new head, the springs bind. I'm going to mill the head as much as I can, send my cams to delta to have them grind a bit off the top of the lobe to give it less lift. I'm thinking that something like a 425 lift would be good and reliable on stock springs. I'm replacing all my valve seals, and even though I don't wanna spend any money on this head that I don't have to, I'm going to get a valve job. I'm not satisfied with the lapping or I have some bent valves. . Ill be running this head for a while, so I'm going to make sure it will last. stock cams are going back in for a while so I can get it running againspin city

I took the head to a machinist today, he is going to get it running condition so I run my car again. stock cams are going in. I'm thinking about a 262 regrind since I would like to boost when I can afford to do so. I'm going to call tomorrow to find out what the specs on this cam are.spin city

This is unbelievable. this motor must still have bent/ leaky valves!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't double check the head for leaks before I put it on because I trusted him, and I was eager to get it running again! I was very, very careful and there is no way I bent the valves after I got the head back. I stayed up all night last night getting this car back together just to run a compression test after class and find that I have leakage still!!!! I should have double checked his work at his shop. now I have wasted near $200 on this head to get it running and I'm still in the same place. Well now I'm gonna go tear it back down, AGAIN!

Do a leakdown test before you teardown, not a compression test. As you get more aggressive with your camshaft it affects valve timing and will affect a compression test.
Again, leakdown test and if you hear air rushing out your TB plate when open or exhaust tip, then I would suspect bent valves or bad valve job.

ok so I took the head off. now I have bent intake and exhaust valves, ecept for the number 1 cylinder. I am 100% sure that I installed everything correct, I double checked my cam alignment when I dissembled everything and it was good. I spent a lot of time and I was very careful when I put the motor back together. what I wanna know is how this guy could mess up my head this bad? His prices were pretty cheep, ($90 to have the heads shaved, valve guides installed and a valve job on the exhaust), but he seemed like a good guy so I went with him anyway. I guess you get what you pay for.spin city
