Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Tuners Speak Up...Making sure I understand this right!

I was going over MRX's f22 basemap (labeled as F22Turbo for some reason, no boost columns...), and I wanted to make sure I understood how the timing works. I figured I better get a handle on this crap before I get my turbo setup on my car so I don't make it explode in 2 days like a lot of people.

Anyways, this is all with regards to the timing in the image below.

I wanted to make sure I understood why the timing dips where it does. As far as I understand, the timing ramps up in the lower rpms as they are increasing, then right before the motor hits its peak torque, the timing values drop to lower the risk of detonation, and then once the peak torque is passed, the timing is ramped up again to keep power production at a decent level. Am I understanding this correctly? I also noticed that there is a small "hump" in the fuel maps where there is a "dip" in the timing map. What is the reason for this? Just to richen it up again to decrease the risk of detonation or going lean?

The dip in timing is to decrease chance of detonation at peak torque (highest volumetric efficency). The increase in fuel is based off of normal wideband readings. It may look weird on the map but most of time the a/f readings are flatlined.

But there aren't any real timing dips on the map during WOT. The other dips u see are just to keep the engine happy and have it not stutter or break up during cruising and such.

And somebody may have tinkered with my map...the only turbof22a map i release is usually titled turbof22v25

It was in your Tuning Journal, haha. Care to send me your newer one, along with a turbo F22 basemap?
