Ok all... after blowing my first stock f22 i decided to up the stakes a lil bit so this is where i'm at thus far with my new build. I'm building an f22a4 i picked up after my original f22a6 blew. Well not totally. The cylinders held up great and showed absolutely no signs of cracks so why didn't i re-elect to just rebuild what i had you ask? I'm glad you asked! i didn't rebuild it because i previously had the block bored over .030 and id been tossing around in my mind .."just how much boost can a stock block take"? So with that in mind and not enough money to have it sleeved, being bored .030 was taking a fairly big chunk of iron from my stock cylinders and seeing how under 19 lbs and some cracked ringlands later the cylinders still looked great. i almost elected to go with an 86 mm piston and those are easy to come by as there are several companies out there that produce em but it still lingers in my mind that its thinning the cylinder walls quite a bit and i'm wanting to build a reliable DD. So i elected to have a custom set of 85 mm 9:1's built for me in hopes to make good HP and keep reliability. Thus far the block guard has been fit and the pistons matched to the cylinders and the block has been honed to spec. im waiting on my ring set from wiseco to continue as my "2nd" rings were to loose from what was spec'd.
