Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    t3/t4 / smic / shop

does anyone know a good website or shop in northern california that have good pricing on t3/t4 turbos and turbo mani's with t3 flange? how much would i be looking into spending on just the turbo and mani?
would a smic work with a t3/t4 setup on 8 psi?

Well, I don't know of any shops up there, however a smic will work with any setup, I think the question you should be asking is "will it work efficiently?", and I'd have to say it's a matter of where you place it...BUT, if you're gonna go through the trouble of using an intercooler with your setup than you'd might as well spend a few hundred extra and get a fmic, it will be WAY more efficient and you won't have trouble finding a place to put it that will allow it to get the air it needs. that's just my 2 cents.

ok... "how effecient is a dual side mount intercooler?" i'm planning on taking out the bumper lights to enhance the air going into the side mounts

why are you so set on a SMIC?? i get so confused when people do this. a front mount will be so much more efficient and will be so much safer for your engine. if you want the "sleeper" look, then paint it black. in actuality, some say painting it black acutally makes it more effficient.

          My point exactly R33.
And as for keeping it a "sleeper", one can of flat black spray paint and the stock front bumper will make it almost unnoticable, unless you're reallt looking for it. That's what I plan on doing.
A FMIC will be soo much easier on your pocket in the long run, it'll keep the intake temp down a lot more than even the most efficient SMIC mostly because it has a lot more surface area for air to hit. Why would you want to remove your bumper lights and go through all that trouble for something that's not going to be able to handle your power potential, especially if you're considering running a t3/t4 setup, I think that even at 8psi your lil' SMIC would self-destruct from the abuse.

damn dude... why would you want to run 2 side mounts? it's not like 2 side mounts = 1 front mount. don't just cheap out on stuff like this. go out and buy a book about turbocharging and read so understand about the whole process. you dont have a twin turbo so don't even worry about 2 intercoolers. go with a frontmount.

its not the smartest thing to do but it would work.. not sure how much pressure drop ud have from going into 2 smic's but.. it would work..

think about it ppl before snapping at the man..
once it passes the first smic.. the temp has dropped some.. weither u fuckers wanna believe it smic's do work.. lol.. so.. that lowered temp then passes through the second smic.. by the time it passes through both.. and all the piping.. the air will be pretty cooled down..maybe not as much as a fmic or exactly the same.. BUT it will work.. i wouldnt dig the look of it.. but to each his own.. do what u want broham.. id personally run them both in the middle and paint them both black if i HAD to do that setup although i wouldnt..

JRC intercoolers are only like $170. if you can afford a t3/t4 you can afford a FMIC

                              Core size: 25 wide X 7.75 tall X 2.75 deep

Overall: 30 from outside of end tank to outside of end tank X 8.5 tall X 3.125 at the widest

                              Inlets: 2.5 Outside Diameter X .065 wall X 2 long

Would this fit in our front bumper without much modification?

the reason i'm asking is because this is a black anodized intercooler made by jrc.
