How to build up the motor in stages?

Hi guys just wondering how i could build up the motor in stages? Im getting bisi parts like pistons and rods and cams and cam gear, but i wanna know if i could do it like cams and cam gear first and then later pistons and rods. Does anyone know that order they should be done in?

it really depends on if you are already turbo. if not id build your head first. if you are turbo already then i would build the bottom end first. The common failure point on boosted f series engines is the piston ring lands. and will fail much sooner than any head parts will. second weak point is the retainers in the head (depending on what you are reving to.)

Na not turbo yet. Wanna do it after the internals. So pistons, rods, ring lands and retainers first. And then cam and cam gear second. Right?

What cylinder head/block combo you talking about? This a hybrid or straight matched engine build?

Ideally, I would obtain spare motor and build it up completely on side, then remove the old and drop in the new all at once.

You save money in end. Even if you're NA now and do everything from cylinder head up (minus block), you will still have to get dyno tuned if you have head porting or aftermarket camshaft(s). Then, dyno again when you put this setup onto the built block. Same for vice versa.

Remember, you're going turbo. You already have to do atleast two stages. Build up entire motor, but keep the exhaust NA form. Run engine NA to break everything in, this will require still require dyno tuning in NA form. When engine proved itself and running properly, then add turbo components and retune.

Thats exactly how i was planning to do it. Its an F22A5 engine at the moment but i plan to source a reconditioned F22A6 and have it built at shop. Once the internals are done and its tuned i'll pop it in the car to break it in. I plan to go for custom 9.9.1 pistons from bisi, so that should get me some hp in NA as well. So i can have a bit of fun with that till i get all the turbo parts together.
I asked before about getting a port and polish done and i was told its not all that important unless im going over 400hp. I want this car to be able to get up to 250whp.
