Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Im a hater but to each his own.
valid points for all sides of the argument.

another upside to Bisi doing it is that he can have it done by the time your done with basic training (Bootcamp) sweetness!!!

You keep reiterating this, seems like your best route is to have someone else do it. People that attack things themselves, usually have a more positive attitude to start with.

I suggest short block. You have the pro do the more critical stuff, but you get involved in it as well, assembling the head onto the block and everything else. You should be able to handle that. It obviously is a cheaper and manageable route compared to long block.

Lol ive been in the navy a year now and still have yet to see my sign on bonus so i wouldn't hold your dreams to that money cause you probably wont see it for a while. I was promised in my contract after boot camp i would get 20% of my bonus and ya i argued with them and i still have yet to see it

I agree with Grumpy. been in the Navy almost 8 years now.
never rely on extra money from the gov, especially these new days in age.

As far as signup bonus', you dont get them until you complete bootcamp and your planned "Rating" A-School/C-School.
All dependant on your rate. Possibility of not getting your money till you hit your first duty station is possible. That is when I got mine.

if you are concerned with messing something up then i really think that having someone build your bottom end is the best option. People like bisi do this every day and know and understand what the limits and constraints are of honda engines much better than most of us do. I personally had my first shortblock built by my local shop and it was well worth it because its still holding together and i have nothing to worry about. over time i have learned how to do it but for a beginner its best to leave it to a pro.

                here's my question:
bisi says "Fully blueprinted and balanced (no platigauge, only precision instruments)"

so... how to you check bearing clearances other than plastigauging??
